I love listening to small bands. Name some and where we can listen to them.

I only know of two... one's called Carbon Leaf, and Story of the Year, even though it isn't strictly a local band, but they did originate in my hometown.

August Burns Red- Well they have a record deal, and tour other continents, but they still live close by. they're a heavy metal christian band.

Texas in July- Not very local, actually kinda far away. Same as ABR.

Small local bands?
A Drop Dead Star - http://www.myspace.com/adropdeadstar
Vallon - http://www.myspace.com/vallon
Lannen Fall - http://www.myspace.com/lannenfall
A City in Silence - http://www.myspace.com/acityinsilence
A Casual Betrayal (now defunct) - http://www.myspace.com/acasualbetrayal
Minus the Bear - http://www.myspace.com/minusthebear

A couple are from RI where my sister went to school a couple years ago. Minus the Bear isn't from my area at all but I thought I'd mention them cause they're a small/indie band and my good friend Rob is obsessed w/ them :D

I have Vallon's CD "For Safe Keeping" but honestly I don't listen to it very often. I have a T-shirt from one of their shows though.. but I don't know why I wanted it since I really don't *particularly* care for them... but hey, I'm never one to turn down cool apparel :P S'black w/ blue/white medieval-kinda lettering & dragons, think like those old family crests look.

Well, my definition of "small" I guess is based mostly on the fact only a few people I know IRL know who I'm talking about if I bring up one of the names, and that I've been to a show w/ the first three with a tiny audience of definitely less than fifty, so I assumed not many people were excited for the Vallon CD release party :P~~ My sister knows people in the last 2 I mentioned, and a good handful of my friends have been on speaking terms w/ the people from Vallon. I guess the 'close to home' feel makes them seem a little less... 'out there' and such to me :P

If you insist on being shown a real 'nobody' band, then I guess you can go ahead and listen to my dad & his friends' music here, I can assure you you've probably never heard of them :P Considering nearly half their recording is done in my basement.

I actually don't know the name of his band, but one of my friends from High School is in one. :} He's really good, too! A few years ago (I think 2) he got to play on the WaterFront (this huge thing where I live).

Here where you can find their stuff : http://www.myspace.com/derekluttrell1
