A collab RP between me and a very respective player, Whisper. We spent a long while planning this, and we'd appreciate it if you gave it a look-see and sign up if you're interested. ^^

PLOT:

Legend once told of a mythical Darkrai corrupted by an evil corporation into wrecking havoc upon the world, spreading its scorn to blacken the hearts of humans and Pokémon alike. A group of brave trainers banded together to combat this dark force and after a courageous battle, the Darkrai was defeated and peace was restored to the land once again.

Years later, those trainers had vanished, and now, the curse of the sealed Darkrai has begun to rise again. Out on a diabolical mission of revenge for being trapped for so long, the corrupted Pokémon slips between the realms, stealing the shadows of hapless victims to use as "Subordinates" -- overshadowed clones that cater to his every will [This concept will be explained further in the RP]. But the Darkrai doesn't want the shadows of just anyone; no, it's out, searching for the most powerful trainers and the most powerful Pokémon to clone and build up an army of shadows to rule the Pokémon world for all time.

Now, a new group of trainers must ally together to put a stop to the corrupted Darkrai's plans. To do this, they must travel abroad to the Temporal Tower and the Spacial Rift, wherein dwell the legendary Dialga and Palkia, and seek their help. But will these trainers ever live up to the challenges set before them? How will they ever train to become powerful enough to defeat the Darkrai? Will they find the dwelling place of Dialga and Palkia -- and even if they do, will the two opposites be willing to cooperate with one another? Or will the Darkrai prevail in his quest to steal shadows and shatter the bond between people and Pokémon forever?

RULES:

-Participants may play as either a trainer that controls up to 6 Pokémon; or as individual Pokémon, of which, they may control up to 4.
-Know your limits; this quest in not for the weak-hearted, but at the same time, EVERY Pokémon has the ability to take damage and faint.
-Each Pokémon has a set of moves of up to 6 -- all of which must be defined in your characters' bio
-FORBIDDEN POKéMON: You may choose to have/play as only 1 legendary from any previous generation; this excludes Dialga, Palkia, Darkrai, and Arceus. No two legendaries may be repeated, so it's FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. No one may own/play as Lucario, as this Pokémon is reserved for Whisper and I.
-Save for Lucario and Darkrai, Pokémon can only converse among Pokémon. However, THIS RULE MAY BE WAIVERED; all you have to do is ask.
-We won't specify a post minimum length, but do try to be ample.
-Sigs don't need to be off. We're not that picky.
-You may have a text color if you so choose.
-Please follow the given plot line. Of course, you may add your own little touches, but for the most part, the RP should follow the plotline outlined above. Whisper and I reserve the right to boot anyone whom we believe hinders the progress of the RP.
-Please fill out the respective bios the character of your making: [Not all of it needs to be complete, like your number of owned/played as Pokémon and moves list. We just need the bare necessities for now.]

Appearance: Short, matted black hair. Grey eyes. Wears a brown beanie, navy blue cargo pants, a dark grey shirt, and a forest-green vest. He also wears fingerless gloves and a watch with a built-in Pokédex.
Brief Background: Can be a little wild and daring when excited. He likes to tease a lot, but takes battling and his Pokémon very seriously. Often a show-off, but if told to shut up enough, he can be real supportive and a great asset to have in battle.

My Lucario is a separate character from Sawyer.

Anticipated Level: 99
Appearance: A normal looking Lucario
Background: Aniubis' last trainer was one of the mysterious few who defeated the corrupted Darkrai long ago. Since his disappearance, Aniubis has wandered alone, refusing to be captured or controlled, and fights for pure defense. Withdrawn and quiet, he keeps his distance away from everyone and is naturally distrustful.

FIRST POST:

Sawyer trudged through the grass, hands stuffed in his pockets and enjoying the start of an extra-long vacation from school. Now he could finally have the time to train as long as he wanted. He couldn't wait to get out his Pokemon and test their strength against unewary travellers happening by their little town. Perhaps, if he so chose, he'd stop by the local gym and challenge the leader there as well. He was already confident in his ability to win, and with his trusted dragon-types, there was no possibility of loss. Even so, it'd be foolish to expect that he wouldn't meet some worthy resistance.

Sawyer was so engrossed in his thoughts, that he was almost rammed to the side when a blurry figure shot past him.

"Huh? What the--"

He spun around just in time to see a Lucario turn its head and throw him a dirty look before leaping up in the air and disappearing behind a wall. Immediately, he ran after it. More out of curiosity of where it could possibly be going in such a hurry than for catching it. He wound down the streets, trailing behind it, and only just being fast enough to keep it within sight. When it rounded a corner, Sawyer heard it give a shout and a large crash resounded through the air. What was this Lucario's deal?

Panting, he turned the corner and what he saw almost took the breath out of him. The Lucario was in a dark alleyway, glowing spheres of aura burning at its paws. Something was crawling up its legs, and the Lucario struggled to swat it away. A black sludge was swathing up the Lucario's legs, and with many angry hollers, it was throwing aura spheres to bat it away.

Sawyer did need any motivation to react. "Kindle, let's go!" A Pokeball was hurled in the air and in a bright flash of light, a majestic Arcanine roared out in freedom. It was appearing as though the Lucario were attacking it own shadow, and a very confused Sawyer was at a loss at what to tell his Arcanine to attack.

"Stay out of this kid," exclaimed the Lucario's telepathic voice.

"You need help," he simply replied. "Kindle, flamethrower! But try not to hurt it."

With a bellowing roar, the Arcanine spewed out a jet of flame at the Lucario's feet. The sludge wriggled in panicked movement, then settled back on the ground and lay still. The attack ended, and the Lucario looked down at the spot on the ground, then shot a furious glare at Sawyer. With lightning speed, it shoved him to the side and held a paw up to the sun. Its tense shoulders heaved a sigh of relief when it saw that its shadow was still mimicking his movement.

"What's going on here?" asked Sawyer.

To this, the Lucario narrowed its eyes at him. "You should learn not to stick your dirty nose in others' business," scowled its inaudible voice. "A kid like you would never understand." It turned and was about to sprint away when Sawyer clenched his fists and spoke.

"I'm not a kid," he said solidly.

"Humph."

"Was that your shadow you were attacking?"

The Lucario jumped up and bollted off, this time travelling much too fast for him to follow.

Sawyer scratched at the back of his head, chuckling nervously. "You know, I have no idea myself. One minute I was minding my own business, the next, I'm getting lip from a crazy Pokémon that was attacking its own shadow." He fished around on of the pockets in his vest and pulled out a Pokéball, recalling back his Arcanine. It was then he was finally able register that he was talking to a girl. He blinked twice, eyes widening for a moment before forcing himself to maintain his original poise. Hopefully, Sawyer could get a name.... Mmmm.... perhaps a phone number. Or maybe even a battle. He found himself curiously thinking about who she was and what kinds of Pokémon she used. Come to think of it, wasn't that another Lucario that had dashed off from her side?

Sawyer was intrigued. "I haven't seen you around these parts before. Are you new in town?"

Aniubis had been using his aura vision and had actually known that Raven was around. Her aura was different than anything he'd ever seen before, and she certainly had power enough to show for it. Indeed, she even has a variety of moves in her arsenal while HE only knew Aura Sphere -- that much, Aniubis knew for sure. But that was a long time ago, when they were with all their old trainers. Gone now. And with them, all the motivation Aniubis had in keeping everything together.

He'd tried to keep as far away from Raven as possible. Hopefully, she could find another trainer and move on. But when he was following that dark blur slithering across the ground... it could only be one thing. Then he ran into that cumbersome kid. And then the blur led him straight into a dark alley way where he'd foolishly let himself be attacked. Of course, he had everything under control until that kid decided to interfere and slow him down. Now Raven had seen him. It was too late to try and loose her.

Aniubis ground to a sudden halt; so abruptly, that Raven was still sprinting towards him. And when she was only a few feet away, Aniubis lifted a paw out in front of him and in a spark of blue light, conjured a menacing Aura Sphere. It was true, this was the only move he knew; but he had grown so skillful with it, it was the only one he really needed. It was then, Raven stopped, merely inches away from Aniubis' glowing paw. In that fashion, they stood for a full minute, Aniubis' narrowed eyes glowering at her from the light of his aura sphere.

<You shouldn't have followed me,> he said to her.

"Isabella, huh? Well, I'm Sawyer." He managed a crooked smile and when he realized how foolish he must be looking, he immediately wiped it off. e turned around, scanning the streets before him and scratched the back of his head again. "You really picked a lousy town to have an adventure in. I've been living here my whole life and nothing interesting ever happens." He thought a moment. "Well, in regards to crazy Pokémon attacking their shadows." He gave a laugh. "But if you're looking for a little excitement, how about a battle? I say, there's no better way to get to know someone than a challenge. You up for it?"

The smile returned. Actually, it was more of a smirk.

<Don't talk to me like you know everything about who I am,> Aniubis snapped angrily, almost ready to release the aura sphere at Raven. <You know nothing. All of that was a long time ago... Times have changed. And so have I.>

Stalling the moment for as long as he could, the aura burning around his paws threw spectral shadows across his face. Finally, with an incensed grunt, he lowered it down and the sphere disappeared, making him blend in almost too perfectly with the shade. He turned his back on Raven. <You know he's come back... he's a lot stronger this time, and no one -- not you or me or anyone can stop it. He'll come for you too, if you stay with me.> Aniubis turned a quarter of his body around, one eye glancing back at Raven. <If you know what's good for you and that trainer (he spat the word out) you're with, you'll keep your distance like I have done. Don't get too attached, Raven. Bonds with people only lead to disappointment. You and I would know better than anyone.>

And before he could hear any reply back from Raven, he jumped in the air and wall-kicked up to scale a large building, disappearing from view much too fast for Raven to follow.

Sawyer gestured for Izzy to follow as he led her down the road and back to the park she was in earlier. They each took their sides. He'd seen the nervous look Izzy threw at him when he challenged her, but he stood firm in his ecision to battle her -- in his experience, girls were always the modest ones, pretending to act that they'll loose only to completely decimate his party. He cupped his hands around his mouth and called to her. "We'll make it fast, so each of us will only play our top two Pokemon, okay?" At least this way, his WHOLE team would get owned.

Reaching in his vest, he took out a Pokeball and expanded it. "Let's go, Dragonite!" He tossed it in the air and in a flash of white light, the Pokemon appeared and stood tall, facing the nervous Izzy and whatever Pokemon she chose the bring out.

Aniubis hadn't meant to bring Raven close to tears, but his mood hardened when he told himself that she had to realize the ugliness of the truth. Darkrai would stop at nothing to get their shadows, and he figured the farther apart they were, the more chance there would be for it to go after him than her. He hoped she'd uderstand that he was buying her time this way. But how much time? Was he right in his decision? Raven was always so foolishly stubborn... it was as much a strength as it was a weakness.

Aniubis stopped running and glared downat the ground for a few sconds, then turned his body around in the direction he'd met Raven, thinking to himself. Finally, he turned back around and continued to sprint off.

Sawyer smiled. "Letting me go first, huh? Well, that's your first mistake." He pointed out in front of him. "Now, Dragonite, use Dragon Pulse!"

The Dragonite let out a loud roar at the Raikou, and as it did, the sound waves literally became opaque with power as they were launched at the opponent with alarming speed.

Aniubis was still running. And then it were as if the air felt charged all of a sudden. That every movement he made stirred the air around him like a mist. <Uh!> Once more, he ground to a halt and listened. The air rippled around him. Tugging him in one way or another. What was this feeling, he wondered.

Closing his eyes, he put a soft paw over the spike on his chest and listened. <By the power of aura,> he chanted.

Immediately, Aniubis was in his aura vision mode, but even though he could normally discern everything clearly and accurately, everything now seemed so distorted. He focused harder, and slowly, the vision became a little more clear. The tugging sensation he felt earlier were actually words. He tried to make them out; <Aniubis... gotten to me... Darkrai, he... trapped in nightmare... don't know... getting this, but.... please respond...>

Just then, Aniubis' aura vision clouded uncontrollably, his sight filling with a dark mist that shifted and molded into the familiar form of a familiar Pokémon. The silhouette had two glowing red eyes that bore down on him. <She's mine now,> it said in an echo. <And soon, you will be too.> The shadow Pokémon made a mad charge at him.

The only way Aniubis could have prevented himself from being hit was to snap his eyes back open. And when he did, he was panting. <Raven!> He squeezed his eyes shut and held two paws to his head. Then he looked up at the sky and gave a furious bellow so loud, that his telepathic cry could be heard in the minds of people and Pokémon for miles around.

A single hit had effectively dwindled Dragonite's health to about half. Sawyer was impressed. "Using combos to multiply damage, huh? Interesting." Dragonite staggered back to his feet, eyes fixed on the Raikou. Neither of them were about to give up. So they just had to finish this to the very end. "No more playing around now. Dragonite, Fly attack, let's go!"

The Dragonite nodded and bounded up in the air, soaring so high that it became a mere speck in the sky, almost impossible to spot from the ground. Sawyer held an arm up, palm open to the clouds.

He looked across the field at Izzy and smiled. Then he dropped his hand. Immediately, there was a rapid, high-pitched whistling sound as the Dragonite came plummeting down and hit the opponents right on its mark.

"Alright! Direct hit," Sawyer exclaimed.

The Raikou was pitched off to the side, and Dragonite was quick to bound back to its trainer, awaiting his next command.
