“Nobody can know my power…”

“For no good can come to what I possess…”

“So I will remain in the wind, stalking the shadows”

“I will remain in the corner of your eye, unnoticed”

“I will remain in the knowing that I am something I cannot be”

“I will remain motionless…and empty, just like you.”

There is much to be said for being the off spring of the legend of Alaska, Balto. True there is great pride in knowing that someone who loves you once risked himself for others lives who had shunned him away before. There was also much pressure to follow in his footsteps, perhaps even striving for great heights that others dare dream about. But above all, their was that spark and determination to see the pride in your father’s eyes, trying to push yourself to your best, just to see that wide, comforting and loving smile of your father.

Kain had no such spark.

He had all the other requirements to obtain that spark, he had Balto for a father, he had just as much knowledge of what he did and what he risked and just as much pressure from family friends to be his best. Yet deep down, he knew. He could never be his best.

Because his best was not normal.

His best was terrifying, his best was supernatural.

Born on the eclipse of the moon, Kain was the youngest of Balto and Jenna’s second and smaller litter and at first, he had shown so much promise. He had his father’s striking wolf lie features, his greyish, soft fur, his bigger paws and flat tail, despite having his mother’s soft, welcoming eyes.

Though as we grow, we learn about ourselves. We learn to show off things and we learn to hide other things and lock them away, lock away our dreams and talents out of fear of rejection. Kain was no different, in fact, he was the extreme.

Though as all gathered round to witness the puppies birth, one of the older women had come into the boiler room and examined Kain’s new born form, before cackling out loud and preaching. “This whelp is cursed with the feet of wind, he shall never know himself in this life” she screeched and was finally dragged away from the newborns by Rosie’s family.

However, the old women had not been wrong.

Kain’s gift was that of speed. Yet not the speed that Balto had mustered to get the medicine back in time. Kain’s gift of speed was one that could leave nothing yet a blur in a passer by vision. The kind of speed that left the wielder unknown to the naked eye apart from the erupted waves of a sonic boom trailing behind as well as a strong wind to blow anything left in its wake.

Hiding it since he was just a small puppy, very few know of his gift and those that do, know not of what he should do with it or even if he should use it. Though those women’s words still rang in Kain’s mind every morning and every night.

“He shall never know himself in this life…”

Odd plot, but I wanted to try and see if I could do a more mysterious, angsty, supernatural twist to Balto and give it a whole new meaning.

This is a great plot,
I love how you've given balto new meaning, taken it and really twisted the plot.

May I be Jenna?
I'll also be one of my own characters.

Name: Melody

Age: Two years

Gender: Female

Breed: Mother was a husky, she never knew her father

Personality: Melody is kind, but rough and outgoing, she's a tomboy, and prefers to hang out with male dogs than other females. She almost never backs down from a challenge, Mostly she only will if she has zero chance of winning. She's no fool, if a dog too good at fighting challenged her, she wouldn't accept, but it takes a lot to get her to back down. She can be gentle at times, but this is reserved for her closer friends and family.

Appearance: Melody looks like a typical husky, she has the same markings as the average husky. She has Emerald green eyes that shine when she's happy, and slender legs allowing her to run fast. She loves racing, her build is slender, and light-framed, but still reasonably stocky.

History: Melody was born into the town she now lives in as a stray, led a normal life as a stray, and has had nothing particularly interesting ever happen to her. She did at one point venture out to the wolves, this was in what her mother called her "Rebel" Stage of her life, but she eventually came back home, finding the wild bitter and cold. She never met the wolves. She has always wondered who her father was, but her mother never talked to her about it.

Crush: None, She says that shes not into that sort of stuff if anyone ever asks her about it.

Mate: None
Pups: None
Extras: Don't get on her bad side.... She sometimes speaks, then thinks about what she said. Sometimes she regrets what she says.

I'd like to be Alue! I'd also like to add one of my characters!

Name: Akailak
Siblings: Kain
Bio: Shy and timid, scared to do things.
Likes: peace and quiet, her brother.
Dislikes: Loud, noisy people or dogs.
Mates: None
Children: None
Fur Color: tawny, gold
Gender: Female
Font Color:purple

(Thank you very much wolfie, I tried x3. Hopefully we can start now, so here is mon post! <3)

Kain silently watched the sun rise over the distance land beyond the town that was known as 'Nome.' Winter had come and the snow had thickened as the sky's darkened so early these days that it was any wonder that they got even a little sunlight. Though Kain did not mind the dark, it gave him time to thick, to feel the calm and serenity that he rarely felt anymore, the kind he had not felt since his realisation of what he truly was.

Ignoring such thoughts, he closed his dull, tired eyes and lay his muzzle against his paws, as he lay on top of the roof. The canine was still young, not at his full height by far and probably only meeting half of Balto's height. He was still a child, despite his quietness and knoweldge over what he was and how to hide it, he was still a silent, slightly lost pup behind it all.

Moving his gaze to the faint snow, gently kissing his already cold nose, he remained glad that no heavy winds were coming in so far, the last thing they needed was another storm, especially with the mail run so close. Closing his eyes and retsing his head once more, he watched with little sign of interest at the early morning workers who had already begun the day and started openeing.

Nome Sweet Nome.

Akailak trotted through the soft blanket of snow and up to her older brother. She smiled and bent over Kain. Her brother could get a little off the chain sometimes but tonight he was calm and peaceful. That's exactly how Akailak liked it.

She layed down next to him and closed her eyes lost in thought.

Melody sighed. She was restless, without knowing why. Usually in the morning she could just laze around, doing noting in particular, but today, something made her restless. A slight breeze ruffled her fur, which made her instinctively sniff for scents. Nothing of particular interest reached her nose, so she started pacing. Back and forth, Back and forth. Eventually she stopped pacing and sighed again.

She decided to go for a walk outside Nome for a little while. She made her way through the town silently, her paws clicking on the pavement. It was reasonably early in the morning, so not many people were around. Melody enjoyed being able to walk around in the open like this, usually a human might chase her away, since she was walking through the main part of town where all the shops were.

As Melody made her way out of Nome, her mind was occupied by the one thought that always nagged at her. Who was he father? She hadn't thought about it much, ever since her so called "rebel" stage, but it still occupied her mind at times. Finally Melody came to an area she considered suitable, not too far from Nome, but still tranquil and peaceful.

She sat for a while, fidgeting a lot, before her nose caught a scent on the slight breeze. Three dogs were nearby, so she followed the scent. She walked silently towards the scent, until she could see the dogs. She knew she should probably just avoid them, and go back to her own business, but, she was curious. If she had done that she just wouldn't have been acting like herself. Although she was too far away too hear what they were saying, she sat and watched them. She was down-wind of them, so they wouldn't smell her.

Melody jumped, having been startled. She looked up to see Balto and just stared dumbly at him for a while. "Uhh..... Uhhh... Umm.... Uhhh...." She said dumbly. Suddenly she snapped back to her senses. "No, I was just out here..... and I just saw them.. And Umm.... well..
I just sat here..." She said
