To me it seems like the whole point of it is to spend lots of money on each other and single-out everyone that is not in a romantic relationship.
It is entirely a commercial holiday like Halloween where the whole point is to buy things as seen in commercials, the internet, movies, and everywhere!!
It drives me crazy thinking about it every year because while it may be meant to have a nice happy purpose; society has reduced it to just another spending based holiday with no real meaning.

IN all my 17 years of life.. ive never had a valentines... i thoughy NJ would be... but.. i was wrong... *sniffles*  so i dont get along with love day.. i just stare at other couples and sigh, wishing i had a valentine asell...

It's exactly this blatant singling out of people that makes it so bad. While some may enjoy it they are not the majority and the rest of the people are left feeling bad about not being with someone even more than usual on that day.
I am ashamed to have been born on that day.

Aye, I whole-heartedly agree with you. This thrice-blasted, money-greedy loons are just what I describe them as. I'm only gonna be 13 in March, but I am not deaf and not blind to what is going on in our society. Using Valentine's Day as a marketing tool! Bah! How shameful is THAT?!

It's totally shameful and shows just how much society has degraded. People like Hallmark have twisted love and kindness to suit their own needs and wants while at the same time they are ruining what little meaning Valentines day could have had.

well i'm kinda afraid of Valentines day cause i always think like that ''now every girl will get a gift and i'll be lonely again and make a fool of myself'' but even if i think that there is still a little part of me who says ''maybe THIS year you're going to get something nice'' but every year and i mean it every year i got nothing, until 2 years ago, i got a necklace from my someone i acctualy loved! and that made me happy, i didn't want anything from the next valentines days!
but yeah it's the rich people who will have the fun!
