Hi. I'm Xaqtly, I'm new here and I've recently become completely infatuated with Balto. Well, it might be more accurate to say that I've become infatuated with the love story of Balto and Jenna. I watched the first movie over and over and over, all the scenes where they nuzzled together... I couldn't stop watching. Then I got Balto II and watched that forever. Then I got Balto III. Then I watched all three of them for nearly 3 weeks straight.
Every day after work I would go home and load up one of those movies, and watch mostly the scenes with Balto and Jenna. There are a lot of good ones in the first movie, some nice moments in the second movie and some nice ones in the third one.
I can't help it. I love their love together, and I can't stop absorbing it. Recently I've been wanting more, so I searched for Balto on the internet and landed here. For the last few days I've been reading the fanfics on this site. I've barely scratched the surface because there are a lot of them and some of them are pretty long, but there are some really good ones.
But being in the state of mind I'm in, I noticed a disturbing trend among these fanfics, even across different authors. I admit after reading so many of them in such a short period of time they're blurring together a little bit, but I swear it seems to me that in almost all of them, Jenna gets kidnapped and raped or impregnated by somebody other than Balto, and Balto is nearly killed... or in one case actually killed. He was actually killed! So much violence, so many wolves fighting each other. And then there's the other more disturbing things like incest, Balto cheating on Jenna, Jenna cheating on Balto, so many things that fly so far away from the original stories, and diverge so far from who the characters were.
I respect the people who write these stores. I do, I'm a writer myself and a lot of these are really good. Why do you think I've been reading so many of them? I can't put them down! But holy mackerel, you people are killing me! I love Balto and Jenna, and it's absolutely killing me with what you guys are putting them through. In every story! Balto has been nearly killed like 40 times now! Oh, my poor heart! I can't even imagine a scenario in which Balto or Jenna would ever, EVER cheat on each other - even though I've read the fanfics in which they do just that. True love cannot be brushed aside so easily.
I don't mean to insult the people who write these stories. I'm really just venting because these stories are tearing me up inside. Come on guys, cut me some slack! I'm in such Balto overload that I'm thinking of writing some fanfics myself just to get it off my chest. In any case I'm going to keep reading. I've read a dozen or two stories (including some really long ones) So I have like a hundred to go.
Is it just me? Some of these stories have made me cry! How dare you toy with my emotions like that! (kidding). Obviously they're good stories if they're getting to me like that. I'm just getting to the point where I'm scared to start reading a new story because I already know at some point Balto will be beaten within an inch of his life and Jenna will be kidnapped or worse. And that's to say nothing of all Balto's wolf friends, all the clans and how many of them have died and will die.
I don't know, what do you guys think? I'm off to read some more stories now.
