Tear: Well, for one thing, this is quite a controversial subject. And secondly, it is all possible - it just never was explained in the movies.
First of all, it is possible for Nala to be related to Simba and Scar in that sense - mainly because in real lion prides, there is usually only one main male that breeds with the lionesses to have children; also, the topic of Nala's real father was never brought into light anyway, so one could say that since both Simba and Nala are about the same age, it could be that either: A) Mufasa is Nala's father, or B) Serafina, Nala's mother, could have been impregnated by another male prior to Mufasa having her join his pride on Pride Rock. (Because males do steal other lionesses from other prides in real life . . . Disney probably didn't want to get children to get too into that whole realism thing. Or she may have run away from her home pride while pregnant to Nala, ultimately having Mufasa allow her to remain at Pride Rock with his pride.)
But if A) was the correct answer, this would lead into the whole "Eww, incest" topic, so it's obvious why Disney didn't do the whole "Kovu is Scar's son" scenario in TLK2. (Of course, this doesn't explain the Bambi situation . . . but this is the wrong place to talk about that. XD) However, if B) was correct, Disney wouldn't want to explain that either.
It's a kids movie, yet there's so many issues that people like to bring up that could make it seem so adult. Why is this so?
But to explain this: In the wild, some animals do breed with family. Some professional breeders also breed relatives, mainly for show purposes and continuing purebred lines. Heck, back in the old times of history, royal families married close relatives to continue their royal lineage. (Do some research . . . and not just on Wikipedia, okay?)
But as for lions, I've read that prides are mainly made of close family, so it is possible for any of these to be true. But I believe that it's up to you to decide what you want to believe in.
