I remember a looong while ago, just after I'd joined the site, we had a "BS awards" thing. Basically there were catergories like:

Fan art award
Fan fic award
Fan video award
Fan images award
New member award
Most helpful member award
etc.

Each had a little fun name but I can't remember them. I can't find the old topic either (Lol, UK fails xD) but it was a lot of fun.
Each person could PM their suggestion for ONE person to win an 'award'. Only allowed to vote one person for each 'award' and not allowed to vote yourself.
3 places for each section. 1st 2nd & 3rd.

There were no actual prizes for these when they were done the first time around.

I personally think it's a good idea, one of the things that is missing from BS is the more frienly atmosphere this place used to have and the sense of fun going around.
I think this'll help replace atleast a little bit of that.

Soounds cool. But if you ask me BS should have like a trophy showcase for the winners and the trophy would be an image award for the catagory they won in. and have it show cased under the avatar and info. there. and few really good graphix designers can make the award image. I can go more advance in the discription but I won't unless this was to be taken seriously.

But yeahI think it's a good idea.

Another forum I'm on is having these as well, they've been going on every year since 03 there, voting's started already. I think if we get this passed quickly we could open a section for little campaigns that people can have and start voting around middle November to have the winners announced late December

Hmm, There should be 3 judges, one of the would have to be Steet. And Steet would have to pick the other 2 trust worthy judges (they being mods. or who ever he feels trust worthy). The contests should also stay theme-free, Keep them free-style to keep true competition in the contests. Contests should be help once or twice a year.

Steet would have to update the forums to comisate the profiles and space under the avatar & info. to display so many awards and also the profile so if there is an award that the user want to display they can choose that one or which ever they want. (because a user can only display so many *let's say they have more then 6* they can alternate their awards)

And it could be an annual event. What do you guys think? It would bring new user & old user alike I'm sure. And it would promote more traffic to the site.

Rules and fair judgement is the key. ^^

Just going by what I remember from last time...

Steet made a topic listing the catergories and rules. People would PM a mod (I can't remember who it was or even if it was Steet) with the name of the person and the award they think they should win. E.G.
Name: member1
Award: Fan fic award

Without extra information. That way anyone on the site could win, not just people who entered.

I think having actual awards could also work though. If nothing else have someone make a graphic of a trophy case and when winners are chosen put their names on them and have them in a "winners topic 2008" as images straight on the page.
(Please tell me that made sense...)

New ideas are always a good thing to improve stuff like this. Could use Steet's input aswell.

Sounds good, I only need to think of one "easy and yet interesting" way to doing this.

This is what I had in mind, The prizes would be a cool little graphic with the cat. they won in and have it displyed in a box under their avatar & info. or even under theire siggy. (keep in mind they can't add thier own just control them from their UCP)
and not only would it be showed in ther profile but also when they post. and also on the web site as well.
Also there should be awards for each cat.

Steet I'm thinking that you should put together a good Graphix Team. Some of the best Graphix designers. It being mods or members.

As for the awards and categories.
I think each should definately have 1st 2nd and 3rd places. For 1st place have one similar to your example FS and for 2nd and 3rd have different coloured rosette images with

Or 3rd ofcourse. Different colours for each. Also, definately different each year.

Although I'm not sure how you'd manage to get together a list of all the "best graphics designers"... :/
I can think of atleast 2 people who definately fall under that (in my opinion anyway) but otherwise it's a grey area (for me anyway).

On the contrary, more like shown below, but you have the idea. and it expans the more awards that is shown.
And I agree there should be a 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place as well. But Ithink that the images should have transparent areas (.PNG) because it justs looks so much better. And the awards could have a picture of anything as long as it's clean. But it depends what steet thinks when it comes to that part.

When it come to graphix designers it don't have to be a long list it could be 2 or 3.

Sounds awesome!! Although I doubt most people would win an award for friendliness assuming that was ever added.I like the idea a lot!
