The reason for these rules to have changed is because AS is primarily about Lion King and Balto.

And it's in the name: "Fan Art". Your characters are "Original Characters", not "Fan Art".

It makes sense for galleries to be primarily dominated by - and enforced that way - fan art of Lion King and Balto.

Otherwise it wouldn't be a "Fan Art gallery".

You have also missed the part that you need to have at least one Balto drawing for every non-balto drawing you submit to your gallery (it has always been like that, but only recently has this become automatically enforced - before, the Fan Art moderators used to mod this).

So you may still submit non-balto artwork to BaltoSource - you only need 1 Balto Drawing for every X amount of non-balto artwork.

It seems we feel the same about the new Fanart rules, WolfWhisper. I wanted to send in a Fanart of my two characters and I only have one GOOD looking Balto drawing. Oh well. That's just the way it is, but I understand how you're feeling.

i have DA but i never use it i don't understand it its way to confusing and i'm not the best drawer i can't draw balto that much. it always looks weird i wouldn't mind if it said something like "you must have atleast ten balto drawings that would be ok but i can't get thet many in say if i drew my char and i had to do homework i wouldn't have time to send in a balto pic to even it. out get my points?

Erg. I'm one of those people who're kind of against this rule. Actually at the moment I am "forced'" to post 22 Balto drawings due the amount of non-Balto drawings I got in my gallery. (by forced, I mean that I aren't allowed to post other creations than Balto-related)

Hmm....if we think about the other galleries where there are 200+ drawings and most of them are non-Balto related....they won't be updating their galleries for a quite while. Until they post the X Balto drawings.

Reputation might go down on that part...

i agree. anyway drastically changing the rules will effect everyone who trys hard to send in a lot of drawings for the members here to enjoy. its not fair to those people who spend ages on drawings are now finding out this all that effet could be deleted how stupid.

I honestly don't believe this is arguable. What I'd recommend is making a constructive suggestion to Steet about it and see what happens.

At first, I wanted to put it as 1 every 3 drawings, but I thought it would be too much for the galleries with 200+ drawings; so I decided to start with a very little ratio.
Don't forget that you should update your old drawings with the characters information, because if you have Balto drawings in your old drawings, it won't be considered by the system until you update them. If you have 200 drawings, you only have to make 10 Balto drawings, and even less if you're considering that you may have made some Balto drawings already - it's really not that much.

This is not deviantart, space isn't free and unlimited, and that's because this is a FAN site. Personnally I have never (or rarely) seen a fan site getting unrelated art in their galleries. What do the visitors think when they search for a Balto site and find a place crowded with completely unrelated creations? Yes, I have seen some visitors agreeing with that new rule, and I'm sure it's the majority.


At the same time, maybe it's a good thing. They decided to go against the rules (yes, because I have always said that there should be limited non-Balto characters in the galleries, that's nothing new), they shouldn't cry now over this.
I want the site to stay on the right line, and that's only one of the measures I intend to take to assure this.

Once again : I don't prevent you from adding your own fan characters, just make some efforts in return.

well thats strange cos i think people have been saying you have to send one balto pic per fan character pic

not everyone CAN join deviant art because of age and things like that! acually for most art sites you have to be 13. what about all the people under that age?? this may be the only site they can share there art!
