Dead ended books/movies/ect

Grrrrrrraaaarrrr....... i find it so annoying... the story is going so smoothly, and then thud... the end, no more. :evil:

I was watching the Golden Compass, and just after the big battle they get talking on stuff like the cold war, and then its the end and there is no cold war. I know, maybe there will be a sequel to the Golden Compass, but there are so many books and movies and things which all end in nothing.

It depends. With some books, an open ending can make the story seem all the more powerful, because it leaves the reader to make his/her own interpretation. However, in movies it can feel tacked on if it's only there for the sake of a possible sequel (provided that the film was successful).

I agree with toastberg. Me, personally, I love the parts that have lots of action. When they all cut it off, like a cliff, I think "what will happen next?? WHY DID THEY MAKE IT THAT WAY??!!" :pale:

I even know someone who won't sleep because of that. :evil:

I don't mind really. In some books or movies it is pretty annoying but some, like Plague Dogs, it fits so perfectly! <3
