This has happened to me once or twice, it's rather pathetic...
Yes! I can understand if the member HAS to leave, due to family problems, or problems with the site.
No! I cant understand if members join just to up there post count and/or just join because there bored, and know there gonna leave soon.

If that were true, then they should not have joined the role play in the first place. See, this annoying practice, of people getting into role plays and then not following through, is why I stopped role playing (a long while ago). I got sick of unfinished role plays. Almost NO role plays on this site ever get through to completion. It's not worth the trouble. (To mention nothing of the often bad role playing ability of so many on this site.) I agree at 100% with JC...if they're not interested in the roleplay, why did they joined? and if they leave, it would be nice that they say why that decision...

This sort of thing is very common, but really, what good does it do to get upset? Yes, it's normal to have some hurt feelings when you create a roleplay and you have a bunch of people who join. Some leave, others don't. That's the way it is. If someone does join a roleplay and sticks with it, that is good, but if someone leaves and is unable to provide a good reason, who are we to put them down and get angry? It doesn't do any good, does it?
If the person leaves and cannot get a response to you, why be mad? There is more to life than roleplaying. Now I am not saying that roleplay is a bad thing. No, not at all. It can help a person if they're planning to write a story or something. I've done it myself in the past. But life does catch up, and sometimes it's not for the greater good.
There are things that life can bring to a said person who is roleplaying and those things can have major or even minor effects and it brings that person to the point where they are so focused on that life changing or life altering event that they are unable to continue with the roleplay, or that event, good or bad, can make a person completely and unexplainably uninterested in a said roleplay.
These things happen. Good reasons and bad.
If the person you are upset with because they left the roleplay you created and they do not reply, why be so upset that you must vent? Put yourself in that person's shoes for a moment and think.
There is a reason for all things, good and bad. Be thankful that there are probably some others who are interested in a roleplay are a willing to continue it. Now while it is true that many roleplays go unfinished, maybe one day they will be completed. And if not, is it really the end of the world? No.
Things happen. Life happens. And it happens to all of us at one time or another.
And sometimes, an answer to a person's leaving a roleplay is not always given. Why complain about it? Again, put yourself in that person's shoes. There is a reason for the leaving, but sometimes it is best not to know and be grateful that there are other people who like roleplaying. And sometimes people join roleplaying because they have nothing else to do with their time. Maybe there is a reason for that. I know that from personal experiences. And if there is bad roleplay of any type, that means a person is finding his or her feet, their ability to do something they wouldn't normally do.
What is roleplaying anyway?
It is playing a role that is not about you but of a character you created and a character you wish to bring to life. But before a story is created in true words, paragraphs, quotations, the character must be played out like a screenplay. It's acting. Some are good at it, others are not. It takes time, patience, and practice.

Ya made a-lot of good points in your statement, but I still gotta disagree with ya.
If somebody agrees to join a role play then they(in my opinion) are obligated to see it through to the end, whatever that may be. I haven't been on here too long but even I have been in role plays where people say that they will do it, make a bio, maybe do a few posts, and then leave never to be heard from again. And that's just rude not only to the other role players, but it's incredibly rude to the creator/author of the role play.
There is just no excuse for people to do that.

I don't think anyone is obligated to stick with an rp until the end. It's not as if they signed a contract that they would. Yes, they should say that they're going to leave, but they never had to stay.

Yes, they should say that they're going to leave, but they never had to stay. I didn't say that they had to stay, I just said that I would feel obligated to stay if I signed up for an rp. It's no problem if that said person has a legitimate excuse but if they just suddenly leave and don't say why then there is absolutely no excuse for that ever!

It's not really fair to do this; when you ask to join a roleplay, the other players are counting on you. If this happens too often, I may add a rule that you're not allowed to leave a roleplay and join others if you don't have a good reason to leave it. I can understand that some of you get bored after posting lots of messages in a 100+ pages roleplay, but not when you have posted only one or two messages.
So, if this continues, tell me and I'll add something to prevent this.

I agree, I only joined two forum RP's only once, I had to leave one due to internet problems, because it wouldn't let me go to the site, and the first, i'd say a good amount of people joined, but most of them posted about 4 times and left, so they others and I then had decited to stop the RP too. (It didn't happen on this site though but it happens on a lot of forums)
