I think it would be a intersting movie. It would let people know about, Togo.

I like the idea and I'd definately watch it but I'd prefer a "true to the facts" movie about the whole serum run not just one dog/team. I think that'd make an awesome movie.

Maybe not even a movie, but a documentary of the entire run

I think Balto was used in part because he led the final leg, and was therefore a bit more climactic. I mean there's not so much ending in just handing off the medicine to another team, right? I'm not trying to belittle Togo's part by any means, but from a theatrical angle... well, you get the idea. Togo's story didn't begin with the serum run...nor did it end there. And unlike Balto, Togo was a known element in Alaska before the serum run. Hollywood has done their own versions of movies before based upon what could be considered, in some circles, less well-known history. Iron Will being one key example... Well, if Togo was already well-known, that would also contribute to his being... less of a surprise than Balto, I guess. People are a lot quicker to remember an athlete who shoots up from a nobody to a world champ than a guy who's been in the seat for a while. If you'll pardon my saying so, some might say of the matter that Togo was "old news." The fact that Balto was thought little of in real life would enhance his story's potential at the base level (please forgive me if I sound like I'm making slight of Togo, this is the wroter in me speaking). It's like the show Liberty's Kids - instead of focusing dominantly on the major figures of the Revolutionary War like Nathan Hale and George Washington, they emphasize the role of a trio of kids who, historically, probably did not exist. As for other movies about lesser-known history, that may be true. I'm just saying that Balto's use made sense from a movie-making angle, if not a historical one.

JerseyCaptain wrote: So much for the media professionals being able to "forecast" peoples' reactions. Representative samplings of a population, used to determine what the listeners or viewers want, is an extremely flawed and corrupt little system. And it rarely works. Besides...I should think that someone with your religious and ethical convictions would be deeply offended and alienated by the trends in popular media (movies, television, radio, internet, etc.) over the past thirty or forty years, right up to the current day. How have they successfully forecasted what you and folks who hold to similar beliefs and ideologies want or expect? (Oh man...I may regret opening up that door. Sorry, Togo, UK and Lux! This is not an attempt to flame! ) That's quite an account alright (I had some pretty loopy experiences with high school media, to be aure, so I can somewhat relate). I see your point now, and I agree - there's no way of being sure what people will want (I have it on good authority that MTV's "surveys" are less about finding out what kids want to watch than they are about telling them what to want to watch). I'm just saying they must have some idea how to do things, given that they've managed to stay in business. As for the current trends, I do tend to get offended by certain things. But I've found a strategy that works: when I can't change the show, I change the channel. Find stations that are dedicated to good principals, or at least ones that aren't all about spouting bad ones.

A Togo Movie sounds like a good idea to me too,as long as the people who make it stay with the storyline, and do an excellent job with it.
