Anybody heard of this cartoon?
Yes at first glance I thought this cartoon was retarded and corny, tho one day (not long ago) I started watching episdes out of curiosity, and I really liked it. The stupid title aside I think it's one of Disney's best cartoons, YES its a Disney original. I also like the fact this cartoon is done in the 80's anime style.
Epic, sweet, funny, overall very well done, thats how I describe this cartoon. So why you said so Kepz? Let me start:
Plot: Cool plots, theres not really cliches story or stuff, what my start with a overused plot suddenly makes you see otherwise. The writting is smart, with twists and turns you never expect to happen. Even the recap episode was way cool, since it had a plot running and was funny in the end.
There's drama in plots such as violence, but you won't notice overreactions, or seen someone angsty all the time etc. The violence in this show rocks nuff said, and the comedy is awesome.
The Characters: FANTASTIC seriously, there's no cliche or overused charactes, like every monkey has their own personality and seems more realistic than their stereotipes, badguys DO have guts and would kill you if they had the chance, and some do kill (or at least Mandy the evil monkey, he's violent RAWR). EXample
Antauri is out typical wise silent type, but besides he has his cute funny side.
Sprx-77 is our typical bad***, nut cracking, show off, ladies-man, but he also shows to be very unsure and negative when things turn bad.
Mr. Hal Gibson, is a book worm and a nerd, but he's also a kick*** warrior, and he's funny (heh my favorite character you could say)
Nova: What could you spect from the only female of the team, either a tomboy, or a girly brat. Nope I loved her personality she is supposed to be the representation of the female spirit, she is brave, she kicks baddies, she is responsibe (pretty much like Katara from ATLA, but with worse temper), but she also shows her femine side. Act pretty much like a mature girl in a team full of guys XD
Otto: the mechanic, oh he's the most in touch with his sensible (girly) side from the guys, he likes kitties and small cute animals. He's also dummy, random, childish and adiccted to meat. You have to love someone like him, *sigh*if he was only human.
Now the voices are all star, most of them are famous voice actors, or even actors.I mean Corey Feldman: I remember having the movie the Goonies, I rember watching it with muh parents a lot, and when I heard Corey Feldman was a voice actor I was like "oh childhood memories" , He plays Sprx-77, and I didn't know this until way later cool.
Tom Kenny: You must be stupid if you don't know this guy, the guy who plays Spongebob Squarepants LMAO! He plays Gibson (how could someone who plays a retarded sponge could also play a blue monkey with high IQ? LOL anyway)
Kevin Michael Richardson: why I don't know much bout this guy, he voiced Skulker from DP, and several character from family guy.
Kari Whalgreen: She played Cher from Wolf's Rain! she plays Nova
Mark Hamill: for you to know Balto fans he played Niju, and he was in the Star Wars 4 5 and 6 trilogy starring as Luke Skywalker, he played Lord Ozai from Avatar too (me ish ATLA fan) he also played the Joker in the animated batman series.He plays the bad guy from this story, Skeleton King.
Clancy Brown: LOL Otto is voiced by the guy who voiced MR. KRABBS!
Good characters plus good voice acting, make a good combo.
And to end my recomendation, Ciro Nieli AKA creator, also directed Teen Titans, I have seen people here liking TT so well, just a fun fact!
I recomend this series not just for what I stated above, but also for the philosofical morals which are exeptions from today's Disney cartoons. Give it a watch you won't regret it (I recomend you to start watching season two, season one is not really that good) I hate how people turned it down just for it's title.
