When in actuality that topic is much different from this one. That one is about people who make characters that are clones. This one is about people who "borrow" (steal) others graphics/renders and the like and take them as their own.

And I agree. To steal a render is probably about as low as a theif could go. Being to lazy to go over the lines yourself in something like paint? lol. Wow. I'm sorry, but that's one of those things that just blows me away. Then again... Not really given the stuff that's going on around BS/LKS/AS or whatever this place is called now-a-days.

But I guess it's the BSers nature for the most part. "Ooh. I am too lazy to do a render by myself, so I'll just steal [insert good render "artist's name here]'s render and no one will notice !!!!11!!!1" And really, unless all of them are reported, I don't think the fanart mods will go through all the galleries and make sure to delete the stolen renders.

I've had my renders stolen. It's not borrowing if you take it without permission. I don't care if you do give me credit, it's still stealing.

I allow people to use my renders if they ask. I'm usually pretty cool about it as long as they ask and give credit. Funny thing is if a thief just asked I would most likely say yes.

Hey, I render and even I get tired of renders after a while. That's why I do a lot of graphic works that aren't renders. Look at my Lion King Source gallery, it has absolutely no renders.

This doesn't just go for renders, it goes for all fan images (except wallpapers, it's kinda dumb to ask if you can use it for your computer background.) If you like a banner or an avatar someone made and you want to use it, it's a polite gesture to ask or even just to say "I used it (insert forum here.)" If the artist has a problem, they'll tell you. Which is another thing.

Don't argue with the artist. If they don't want you using their images, they don't want you using their images. The artists are generous enough to share their pieces with you, do images on request or trade for you, etc. They have the rights to set the boundaries because they create the works in the first place, don't question it. And if you think they're being unreasonable, then don't talk to them. I've plenty of good artists with rotten attitudes and I just look at their work and leave.

And the other thing is- When people DO Steal renders, and they talk in the Shoutbox, they lie and say it isn't stolen, and when another user has PROOF that it is stolen, they 'leave the site' when they are just really pouting. And not only renders are stolen, sometimes it's backgrounds too, in rare cases. But Sora-Kun pretty much explained the deal.

I made a topic like this too with the main response being "well technically renders are stealing too thus there is nothing we can do about it".

This isn't true. You can set a rule in your gallery that strictly says no use without permission yada yada yada and you can report people for breaching this. This is probably the best that can be done until a definitive rule is decided upon by the mods. This is slowly becoming more of a widespread problem and more attention is being paid to it however, which is never a bad thing.
