Okay, it's a misleading title, because my rant is the opposite of what this says. I have read and posted in so many rants, I can't even begin to count. Most of them, have been locked, and half of them have been locked for reasons I do not agree with at all, but I will not contest since I am no moderator. However, my main point, is that I absolutely go berserk when I see several users ganging up on a member who has the guts to stick up for themselves and stand up for what they believe in. How do these users gang up on someone you ask? Simple, they say, "Just drop it!" I get so angry when I see this happening because as long as the person is bringing new information and/or an interesting, new perspective to the table, than they should not be pressured to let go of their point! Sometimes, I think the people who are ganging up on others like this, realize that the person is simply stating their opinion, but they don't care because they don't like the person. And that should be completely irrelevant when you are debating a subject. Even if you are not fond of the person you are in a debate with, you should not disregard valid information for personal reasons! Ugh, get some common sense people. That's pretty much all I have to say, and if you are going to come here to flame me, just tuck your tail and run away, because I won't tolerate it, and I doubt the mods will either. (Also, this may seem strange that the person who suggested that the Praise Board be established, is posting a rant, but it's not like I'm such a happy-go-lucky, optimistic girl ALL the time. )

There are plenty of times when "Dropping it" is necessary...Although, I do not support those who say this out of dislike of a person. I support those who tell others to drop it as long as they have a good reason behind it. Thank you for replying. To contribute to this discussion, what, in your opinion, would be a "good reason" to tell somone to drop a point?

Not everyone sees arguments between members as interesting. I for one don't.

Well I do agree with you about when it's simply a case of someone 'taking offense' on a differing opinion simply because they don't like the person who has said opinion though there are times when dropping it is a very good idea.
I.E. Member 1 thinks Aleu should have been darker colour. Member 2 thinks she's fine as she is and that Universal made her that way so no point in wanting a different colour. Members 1 & 2 debate the fact that people can create their own versions of the official characters and the point in doing this. The whole subject has pretty much been talked out when Member 3 starts it up again agreeing with Member 2. Member 1 goes bakc over all the points they've already discussed with Member 2 but it turns out Member 3 doesn't like Member 1 for some reason and they end up fighting. - Perfect time for both to "drop it" before a mod decides to end it by locking a perfectly good topic.

Yeah, I know there are plenty of occasions where "dropping" it is acceptable, especially in a situation like you pointed out. What I'm talking about is when the person actually has a valid point, and continues to bring up new facts/information instead of repeating themselves, and yet, multiple others want to shut the person up so that they "supposedly" don't want to get into a flame war. Now honestly, if the person who has a different opinion than yourself, hasn't turned his/her debate into a full-blown argument, than you shouldn't expect a war.

When you, Ms. Shanecae, asked me what a good reason was, this is it. UK said it all XD

Ms. Shanecae wrote: Not to be rude, but did you read my last post Emily? No no, it's not rude =P And yes, I did read it. But you asked me what situations I thought were necessary to drop it and I told you =P But, if you meant that you wanted me to acknowledge that that's not what you meant and tell you weither I agree or not, I will. I do agree that when it's a debate and not a fight, it shouldn't be "Oh just drop it". Or when someone actually is correct about something and is saying it politely, it's not ok and is actually rude to say, "Drop it."...Unless the person is shoving it in their face and being a jerk.

I voted: No. and do NOT flame me because this is MY opinion... Well you know what? The words "DROP IT" are pretty ***** rude. So those who use such bullying and childish words are no better than those who post repetitive or empty complaints. That's my opinion. Deal. did i say i used the words "drop it?"
