The Princess Who Became

Tara lazily yawned enjoying the veiw of the sunset. She was reposionting herself on the grass blanket she was on when she heard a sigh. She looked up at her father Reon."Tara dear I need to talk to you." She looked up at her father seeing his deeping under eye shadows. "Not now dad it's too earily." I complained. "Now Tara." He narrowed his eyes and showed his teeth which he never did. I got up cauitsly and follwed. He took me to a feild a little away from the caves our pack lived in. My dad looked at me and sighed heavily "Tara you do realize you are to be an alpha female in a month don't you?" I rolled my eyes of course I knew I had been counting down the days. "Of course daddy." He turned and faced the sun "Well Tara you aren't ready. I'm afriad thats some of my own fault. When your mother died she left me bleeding and you were the only thing I had and Im afraid I was all too eagr to give you anything you desiered Tara. You need to want this. And right now you don't want it for the right reasons." He leaned agasint a rock obivosuly tired. "Of course I want it Daddy! I want it more that anything!" I cried out. "I know you want it. But you want the power only not to help others. Your pack is your family Tara." I groaned. "Tara like it or not I'm having Riccker train you. He is after all my beta and he takes his job very serisoly. He will be a good teacher." Riccker! I screamed inside. My father always went on about how good of a leader was and it was obvious he wanted me to be with him. At first I had thought Riccker was perfect strong features and rippling muscles but then I learnd how serious he was..ick. "No Dad!" I whimpered. "Yes Tara." Then he turned back towards the caves.

I groned and fell to the floor. Riccker grunted and closed his eyes. "Listen Tara you have to do this. Leading the pack isn't just making sure people follow rules. People look up to you for you to be strong and wise. It's a very serious thing." Like I hadn't heard that crap before. "Stupid alpha wannabe." I muttered to loud on purpose. His chest puffed up with anger. "I know you have it in you. You just are too afraid to take it on. I can tell your afraid." He whispered. He was right. He was so right. And I hated that with every ounce of my being. "If you can change that I'll listen." I told him softly my eyes closed. "I smelled his warm breath near my neck "I will. I will." He said. In that insten I opened my eyes his were right near mine. It took my breath away. I shook it off. This wasn't about him this was about training. "Okay" I sighed getting up and moving to the front of the cave "Lets get this over with."

This was my fifteenth training with Riccker. He tought me how to hunt, how to fight, how to lead. He was an amazing leader my father was so right. Today we went to hunt a heard of moose he was planning to teach me how to get more than one so to be able to feed more in the pack. As he crouched ready to deminstarte I coudln't help but to be memosrized by the way his large mussles flowed and ripped as he crouched and then pounced. It mezomireed me to watch him. I knew I was falling for him. I hated it because I knew I was changing and I wasn't sure if I wanted that yet. "Tara your turn." He suddnely pulled me out of my thoguhts. "Uh yeah." I quickly rembered what to do then used the tequines he tought me to bring down three moose. When I saw his reaction my heart melted. He had a huge floopy smile his tail wagging fast he ran up to me and beamed "You did great Tara! You did really great!" I coudnt help it all my emotinals got all tangled and I ran up to him and preesed my face into his fur and grinned then I realized what I just did. I pulled my face back blushy furiosuly he look startled but then his smile returned bigger than ever. "Don't be embarssed he cooed. But Of course that only made me blush more.

It was a dark rainy morning when I woke. I could feel something wasn't right in the air. I got up slowly and went out the cave. All the dogs were crying or whimpering. I frooze. My father. I ran fast to the cave where my father slept and saw Tipnay the packs healer nelt near me father whispeing to him. Riccker looked to me his eyes full of pain. "Daddy." I whimpered. I ran to him and buried my muzzle to his fur. "Hi darling." He gave me a weak smile. "Oh daddy!" I cried out."It's okay baby my time is here." I whimpered. "Oh no,no daddy!" He smiled "Darlin on the day you were born was the proudest moment of my life. You were and are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I know you will do good leading this pack." He said horsley. "Oh daddy I love you too much you can't leave me!" I sobbed. "It's okay pumpkin your mother and I will watch you always." I pressed my muzzle to his fur. " Im so proud of you rember that." he told me. "Take care of my baby Riccker." He finised then I knew he was gone. "Oh Daddy!" I sobbed quitley. I felt a warm body snuggled to mine. I looked up to see Riccker his pain showed in his face. I collased on his preesing my body tighly into his. "I'm here. I'm here. It'll be okay sweetie." He cooed in my ear. I sobbed on him until I fell asleep with him. At that moment I knew I would always have some one who loved me as much as I loved them. I let myself adimit that I loved him with all my heart. And that was the best thing I could have.

Riccker- When did you that you loved Tara?
Tara- Why didn't you want to face the fact that you loved Riccker?
Reido- How did Tara's mother die?

Riccker- " Well after the first few days I watched her and saw her engergy and how much potienal she had and I grew demtmined to help her. She made ma luagh and smile coautanly something I adimt I hadn't done for awhile. So I just knew that I loved her. That I would do anything for her.
Tara- "Well there were a few complications. For one thing I felt myself changing and I liked it but was afriad of change. Also when my mother died I saw the pain in him,the moruning and the great loss. I didn't want anything to happen. I didn't think I could hadle that. But now I know I'll love him with everything I have and I know he will too. I just know that even iif one of us passes on we will always be togher in some way.
Reido-" Well Tara's mother had been through many blows in her short life. She was fragile inside and out when I found her. She had Tara but it drained her strangth and she clung to her menatal and emaotinal stargeth left. We alll knew she would leave to join the heavens at some point. But when she did it still took up for suprirse.
