Okay, I only thought about this for a while after searching through eBay for random stuffies . . .
I've seen an English version of WQ (I think it's the Aussie version - Region 4? Forgive me if I'm wrong . . .) with, what I believe is, a better and more actual description of the actual storyline of Wolf Quest.
Here it is:
The Region 4 Wolf Quest DVD wrote:
Spielberg's classic Balto captured the world's imagination; now the adventure continues, and this time Balto is not alone . . .
Balto has become a father and all the pups but one, Aleu, are given away to good homes. After an encounter with a hunter in the forest, the young Aleu discovers that she will never be accepted like her brothers and sisters because she looks more wolf than dog. Upset, she runs away to begin her quest for the meaning of life and to find her true place in the world.
A worried Balto, haunted by strange dreams involving a mysterious white wolf and a raven, sets off to join Aleu, and so begins an epic wolf quest across the icy wilderness of Alaska.
A spectacular, heart-warming adventure of courage, self-discovery and excitement that will live in your hearts forever.
Yes, that is word-for-word. (Actually, the French version - although I understand 0% French - seems to resemble this one . . . perhaps it's a translation?)
And now, for equal judgment, the US version:
The US Wolf Quest DVD wrote:
A true American hero returns - in a breathtaking newquest and big as the wild, untamed North! This action-packed, feature-length sequel to the original Balto is a brillantly animated adventure your whole family will want to share again and again!
Part-husky and part-wolf, Balto knows what it means to hear "the call of the wild." So when his headstrong young daughter Aleu discovers her own wolf heritage, Balto understands she must follow her heart. Now, deep in the Alaskan wilderness, Aleu will seek her own path, tangle with a renegade wolf pack leader, and - with a little help from Dad - fulfill her own heroic destiny!
Filled with laughter, action, unforgettable characters and the voices of David Carradine, Lacey Chabert, Mark Hamill and Peter MacNicol - Balto II: Wolf Quest is an adventure classic to cherish for a lifetime!
Ugh . . . Again, I did not make this crap up. It's the legit deal.

In my opinion, the R4 version is a better summary - not only does it mention Aleu's main dilemma of finding who she is, but also it mentions Balto's haunting dreams. It doesn't really spoil much of the film's climax - like the R1 version does . . . blah - so it leaves one thinking, "What's going to happen next?"
Naturally, I think the person who wrote the summary for the US version was as crazy as the person who drew the cover (See my siggy as proof of my gripes! . . . horrible.). When in the film did Balto understand that Aleu had to follow her heart? (The ending? LOL . . . oh, wait . . .) Also, as I mentioned above, it seemed to spoil the fact that it is Aleu, not Balto, that would be the ultimate hero (or in this case,
heroine), in which she was if you think about it.

*whew*
So, what do you guys think? Which is the better description of "Wolf Quest" and why do you think so? (Please tell why - it's not a discussion without some talk! And don't mention the lies that you believe were spewed onto the DVD cover . . . ("unforgettable characters," my foot!) . . . We're talking about descriptions of the movie plot, not the actual descriptions of the movie altogether! - Thanks!)
