The Artists' Reside Trip (aka ART) was a happy mistake in shorthand. Firstly, it was going to be a sort of "convention" for members (and future members) of the
Artists' Reside Forum. Of course, this forum is still small - so why not open it to the public, as well?

What is it?The ART Event will feature a flea market - with clothing, literature, visual artwork, and more! - cash-prize contests, good food, and other entertainment. We allow artists of any age, skill level, and range (what they make doesn't matter!) to participate and attend the two-day event.
When is it?Though not official, the event is to take place in the Summer of 2009 between the months of July and August, weather permitting, and will be a two-day long event.
Where is it?This is still in negotiation, but the plan is for the event to be at Catlin Village Park in Catlin, Illinois. Catlin is easily accessable from any standpoint, with airports and bus drop-offs within 90 minutes or less! You can visit
this page on Catlin's website for more information and travel time (see the BOTTOM of the page).
How much does it cost? For general addmitance, it costs $5 for anyone 15 years and up, $2 for anyone under 15. Infants and senior citizens are free. Anyone participating in the event (bands, people with booths, staff) are also free.
What is the age limit? There is no age limit. However, if one is to have a booth, we ask that they have a legal guardian or parent with them. The youngest age to run your own booth is 16 years (but there must be someone over 18 helping you).
Are there any safety precautions?Yes. It has been requested that the
Catlin Police Department (and maybe another police department or two) attend the event for security. Should an occasion approach, Catlin Fire Department/EMS service will be on stand-by in their station, a short 2-3 blocks from the event.
Who can attend? Everyone! Of course, we suggest that anyone under the age of 15 be accompanied by a legal adult - this is just common sense and safety.
Will there be any... bars open? No. This is a family-friendly environment and we (the staff) will remove anyone who is intoxicated or has alcoholic beverages in the sales area. There will also be no sales of drugs or prescription medications allowed. Anyone who is reported for such abuse will be reported to local authority and/or escorted home by one of our lovely police officers.
What about people under 15 who want to attend? If a parent or legal guardian cannot attend the attendee during the event, we ask that you follow a cardinal rule - safety in numbers. We also suggest that there be a legal adult (with a signed form from your parents). Parents can contact the ART staff to confirm this. All in all, we will allow anyone to attend - but we don't want anyone being alone. There's always a risk.
