Why? Because you don't? Write more in your posts!

Anyway, yeah I agree, I don't mind the "Ask the cast" Topic for the fan fics, but constantly "Ask Balto", "Ask Jenna", "Ask Bob the Builder" (LMAO) It just bores me out, and it's a waste of Database space, because most times, there is already a topic based on the same thing, witch than it breaks a rule.

This does annoy me... a lot. It's like you ask a person and someone will answer it by roleplaying as a Balto character. I ask myself this occasionally every time I see these: 'How do you know that the character will react to that?' And then the unanswered questions are asked like: 'Aleu, where did you and the pack land'... or 'Do you know what *insertcharactername* are doing?' It's like... you can't answer those based on factual stuff. Besides A) we don't know where Aleu and her pack landed, although chances are it was Russia, or it could've been an island somewhere and B) we don't know what *insertcharactername* is doing after the movies and, to me, a lot of them are guessing or basing it on what they have that character doing in their world of Balto fandom.

While topics like these annoy me, I'm not bothered by the 'Ask my character' topics (at least, it's based on what the creator made them and the creator already knows the answers him/herself, while with the 'Ask this Balto character' the answers can be rather debatable). It's a huge trend and, in all honesty, it's really annoying me now.

I agree, I mean, like I said, if an author of a fanfic started a topic saying "Ask the cast" In the fan fic section, FOR HIS/HERS FAN FICS, thats fine, it's just when they base it on a Balto character. it really dose anoy me.

I hate to say this but at first it seemed like a good idea but people start copying it until it starts spamming up the forums. Sorry if there is a rant about this but I am just really fed up with those types of topics. I bet you are tired of repeats of ask the charcter of Balto anything too. I am forever free to rant or have opinions.

Oi, I empathize with you completely. And it's not just "Ask Balto", it's "Ask (insert name of any character in any animated film here)"! That's just one step behind roleplaying, and frankly, I think a whole lot of us would be happier if the person actually started using a creative outlet for those "Ask" things by becoming the character, and having a decent plot! That way, the bandwidth being used would be used in an appropiate manner. I feel like shooting myself in the head whenever I see one of those things... Sometimes I wish there would be a rule against that, but it isn't necessary to go that far so I will mind my P's and Q's.

Simple post:

Exactly!

They completely lack creativeness and most of them are rather pointless, I have no idea why members continue to do these things, it's like the "Balto Funny Faces" topics, they start one, and than you get a whole bandwagon of followers who think the topic is "Good" and than think "Oh I can do omthing like that for other characters" And than you get all these topic repeats, witch just bore me out of the forums.

Although I was responsible for some of the Ask a Balto character topics, they're beginning to annoy me as well.

But I do remember you asking UK to lock the topics, as far as I remember?

Why does this remind me of so many other trends that have come and gone on this site?

But yeah, seeing someone make a thread that says, "Ask *insert Balto/TLK/fan character name here*" makes me think that these people have no other original things to do. (No offense, Foxy Jenna!)

For one thing, it's rather pointless. Seriously, you're not any of these characters, people! And also - this especially holds true for the minor characters or those with unanswered questions in the series - it's kind of impossible to actually reply in character . . . It's a fictional character, for goodness sake!

I only see this could truly work for fans and their own copyrighted characters (such as if Cat14 made one for Kiona or if Kelev actually made one for her Aleu-similar-sister, Tovah), but to have other people use someone else's characters for crap such as this . . . no way.

Of course, I do believe that JC is right - there is another thread about this topic. I just replied to this one because I was lazy.
