Maybe you have noticed that I have changed the fanart rules, when you go to send pictures, to more "graphical" ones. I have specified that linearts that you've colored over, but drawn from other artists, are not allowed. After some chat with members in the shout box, I have noticed that such drawings HAVE been allowed by the fanart mods until now, something I wasn't really aware (I thought it was only "empty" linearts that were allowed) and for which I'm surprised because the rules have always specified that "Drawings that you didn't drew yourself are not accepted".
I don't consider such pictures as your creation. Coloring over is the easy task. Yes, I know that there is a little part of creativity into them, but still : it's not really your creation, because you've used something coming from another person.
So, there is the need to separate them from your own drawings. My question is : where do they belong?
=> Either as a separate type in fan arts (just like there is a separate type for Balto / Non Balto characters)
=> Or in fan images (after all, fan images are pictures you've not created yourself, but have modified) Although fan images rules will need to change a bit in that case, because until now, drawings were not accepted.
Personnally, I think they suit fan images better. But I leave the choice to you. You just need to know that managing separate types in fanarts will take longer to program, but I will definitely do it. Also, if we move them to fan images, the move will not be automatic, so each person will have to do it yourself or ask the mods.
By the way : same thing for commissions, gifts, or drawings drawn by several persons : there will be a need for separate types for them.

I think coloured linearts suit Fan Images more. In the past one or two linearts people coloured didn't really matter as long as credit was added in the description but some galleries are now ALL coloured linearts with one the odd actual drawing which is annoying and pretty pointless, fan ART is just that...ART not someone else's that you coloured.
Not so sure about the blank linearts though...I would say they should be allowed in fan art because the artist did actually draw it...?

Well, this could sound difficult, and it would probably make stuff a lot clearer and cleaner on the site.
Ya' know how fanart has an option for Balto and Non-Balto (or TLK and Non-TLK) well, if in the fan art you put another lineart option (or fan images, whatever you like).
Also though, another thing that would help is if you did something like that for renders. Many of us are annoyed at seeing fan images sections polluted with renders and the same goes for fan art polluted with linearts.
And I know this sounds like a LOT of work (I'm not sure if it is, I know nothing about coding) but a filter in your fanart options (at the bottom of the page where you choose how many images/arts to see and whether to preview drawings) at whether you want to see renders, linearts etc.
I know if you do do this, it would take a long time. But it's just an idea.

As I suggested here; viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22819, I think it would be a good idea if there were two subcategories under line-arts. One for line arts drawn by the artist, and one for coloured-over line art drawn by other artists.
