I've been wondering for the past couple of days. This could be just me, but I didn't know what approach I should take or what to think of the matter, so I just thought I'd ask.

You hear it in the rant boards all the time. This is a KIDS' SITE. Yet it's only plain and obvious to see that the dominant force at work here is Balto (and steet, of course. XD). Thus, despite only the forums section being called "Animation Source" this could also be a BALTO SITE.

...But then again, this being a BALTO SITE doesn't necessarily make it a KIDS' SITE now, does it? After all, we have countless active members who are well out of their childhood years. And naturally, they take a different perspective in regards to how this site should be run than the younger, more newer members that care constantly coming in. What they might find appealing may not be what the younger members might be leaning towards.

And like it or not, we all must respect that.

I would think this is the main source of much of the animosity some of the others tend to be feeling right now. Despite what many of you might think, I don't think this site is as bad as people may've led others to believe.

And so I implore you to answer a simple question: Is this site a BALTO SITE or a KIDS' SITE? Keep in mind that it being a BALTO SITE can encompass many different things -- not all of which, may be considered kid-appropriate. Likewise, it also doesn't have to be Balto to be kid-appropriate.

It's both. It's a Balto site, but Balto appeals to children, so it attracts children and is therefore, a kids site - even though it attracts people of all ages. I'm not saying that it is EXCLUSIVELY for kids, but we still have to keep in mind that children are very impressionable. If you want to post art or fanfics with controversial subjects, than I feel that such material would be better off on DeviantArt or someplace else.

What if a kind of rating system was developed? Of course, there's no way we can rely on everyone being honest [not saying anything here]. But be that as it may, that's one less finger to point at the site...

I see it as both. It is, after all, a site for all ages and Balto fans. With a divergence problem.

well, i personally think this is just a balto site, that happens to be clean becuase of strict rules. and besides, people of a variety of ages come here.

I see it as both. HOWEVER, I see it a tad bit more of a Balto site than a kid's site. Just like warriorcat explained it.
