As one of the more clever minded thinkers of this site, I want the people to read what I have to say. The SB has gone completely out of control and it's about time someone took action. It is I who will do so. As a polemical orator, I will argue for the sake of saving this site. It has basically turned into a hostile environment which people can say whatever they want and get away with it. I will not let that happen. Here is an outline of the behavior, actions, and themes I've witnessed on the SB.

I. Behavior

A. Interactions with other members.

1. The shoutbox is a place where members of Balto Source can interact with one another, make friends, and have fun. However, some think this is a place to flout other members and make themselves more superior to others by using the weapon of hate and predudice.
2. Such actions which have taken place are highly unacceptable and is a clear indication of how contentious the person actually is. This may be a result from other occurences which people feel that the only way to redeem their shattered memories is to display an act of belligerence to other members in an attempt to mitigate some of the pain which they felt earlier in life.
3. I have been through such experiences in my life, but I did not turn to harming others in order to make myself feel better. The way in which one can resolve such problems is to seek professional help.

B. Immaturity

1. Some think that immaturity is a way to attract others' attention, but to me, it's just a cry saying, "Look at me!"
2. Immaturity may be a result from a defect in the brain or underdevelopment of the mental mind.

C.

 . Thanks, Jersey, and someone such as myself felt that I needed to help the situation. Someone needs to teach a lesson about proper behavior, and I will be that one to do so.

some members here are only 9,10 or 11, so all they may be talking about is 'oh im better than you, im smarter than you' etc., etc. but this has indeed crossed those borders. its not only the younger and immature members doing it now, ive seen people at the ages of 13 and 14 doing such things a lot more lately. :? some members definately need to get around to using that report to a mod button because i gareentee that in every situation that occurs, mods aren't contacted every time so these troublemakers' bad behavior continues until somebody decides to report them. notice i AM NOT blamming mods for this, but the disrespectful immature members themselves, they are responsible for thier own actions and if they cant chat peaceably with others, they need to leave and go somewhere else. and for you chemical phantasm, i give cookies, bravo, well written :D

Indeed, it's very disappointed to see inmaturity coming from people in their teens. I couldn't agree any further with you, Warrior. Good point! :)

thank you.well at least we know people as old as 18 aren't disrespecting the rules, the ones that do so have brains that are still developing so they still have time to go back and change what they did, apologize and grow up. and hopefully, some of them will look back upon themselves and say "wow, i was really stupid for doing that". but i also think that many of the teens that act this way are bored, being 14, i know them well and think this is also a cuase for the immature behavior. they are bored and it being summertime, they are out of school and have more time to torture the site with thier annoying comments in the shoutbox or even here on the forums... :?

Warrior, you seem to think exactly like I do in this sort of situation. It's quite embarassing that I talk to some who don't show much maturity or logic. Makes me look bad. But I am very glad indeed that you agree with the point i'm trying to get across. It means a lot that someone wants to help the situation as much as I do.

thats why i stopped going to the shout box, a long time ago. everytime i would go some new person would do as so:

random noob: so lyk whts happing every1
baltosourceuser: please dont use sms
random noob: wht sms.
baltosource user: (goes into explaination of the topic)
random noob: (5 seconds later) i dont get it, thts lyk so retarded, y cant we lyk talk lyk this
baltosourceuser: because its against the rules
randomnoob: your being mean, every1 here is so lame (blah, blah, blah)

and eventually somebody will get a mod and they get banned. it really got so annoying that i just left the shoutbox behind and came to the forums, where it's more peaceful. now i know we should come accross spammers and such occasionally, but not several times a day, its rediculous. and generally, people like that act the same at school. but unlike them, i truly find it disrupting, immature and annoying and am here to stand up for the rules and show people that not all of us teens are so stupid.

i'm glad that people agree with me. Someone needs to set examples such as this and help stop the madness.

It's kind of a double bladed axe situation. We want new members to come and join up. Most of those new members aren't well versed in the rules of this website, since there are a few that the majority of them lack. The members who really want to be on this site and enjoy it adhere to the rules. The double edge of this, with the influx of new members, comes new trolls, as well as attention mongers, and their tactics. We're all working as hard as we can to keep them away, but they're not all the same. I'm sure we've all found that this is a situation that can't be cured overnight.

And wanting attention doesn't automatically indicate a mental deficiency. It's psychological, which is a whole different field.

Strange as this may sound, I think all new members should take a quiz about the rules. Erase them so that the new member doesn't see them and quiz him/her whether or not he/she knows how things work around he. We need to be sure that these people have an understanding of how serious we are and not induce more trouble.

Not a bad idea, but for the volume of incoming members that this site has, I don't think it would work. I think what would be good, is that when they first join (this isn't my idea, I forget who's it was, but it was a good one) is they get a private message that explains the codes of conduct on this site. That would probably be much more affective at getting the message through.

That is a very good idea. I think all new members must learn immediately so that trouble doesn't happen. It must be a pain for moderators to ban new members. But, as mentioned, they are the one who put themselves to that level to getting banned.

These are good ideas, but I ask that you all take a moment and look at it this way. The rules of this site, most of them, are common sense. So I assume that most people have a good idea of what the rules are. They simply choose not to follow them. And if they take a test or are given a PM upon signup, they could easily pass it and still not follow the rules. I don't think the issue is people not understanding the rules, I think it's, like has been suggested, immaturity.

I suppose it could be helpful for those who simply lack common forum knowledge. So I suppose neither suggestion could hurt. In my opinion though, the Private Message explaining the rules would be a better idea, as the quiz might turn people away from joining the forum.

Again, all this which you are saying is exactly what i want to hear. I need controversial support to further spread my point across. I thank you. =]
