I am a big fan of the books, but they cut so much out. Wasn't really my favorite.
I've also had it with parents trying to keep kids from reading the books because of religious reasons. That just says "we won't value you as much if you don't share our beliefs". Have your kids make their own choices instead of brainwashing them. I have so much more I'd like to say, but the rules prohibit me.
Sorry. Really had to get that out.

lol of course they're gunna make a sequel (2 more movies in fact) 'The Golden Compass' as the americans call it was first a book called 'The Northern Lights' but apparently that confuses the yanks so they changed the name. The movie was actually pretty good, lots missed out the book but the book is very big so I'm not surprised. I'm apprehensive about the other 2 movies but I hope they will be good as they did a pretty good job on this one.

Well no worries the movie has nothin to do with religon. Just curious though, what does 'religous disturbance' mean? Seeing as though your putting it in context with a movie I'm guessing it might have something to do about making your faith questionable? I'm not sure and I don't want to step out of line mate but was just wondering is all

Unless you find every human created to have a daemon religious...

He's not really hating. He's simply using an alegory to express his views. Views that I, by the way share with him. If religious people would take time to read the book, and disregard any connections, they would probably really like it. Also, I'm getting pissed at how anything that connects to atheism is instantly considered "hateful". It's a personal belief, just like what all of you choose to believe in.

Even if he is hateful, the books should still be read. Walt Disney was a borderline nazi, but nobody enjoys his movies any less.

No offense, but you're kind of missing my point. The books are bound to be read. What I'm saying is that religious people should put aside all personal bias, and try them out, and more parents should let their kids read them.
Parents that don't let their kids read these books are like the parents that didn't let their kids listen to Led Zeppelin because of Jimmy Page's dabbling in the occult. They're afraid that the kids might be driven towards something besides what they believe when questioning authority is actually a sign of strength and intelligence.
