Niju is not a villain

Niju is not a villain. And it pains me somewhat, that some people might view him as such. I realize it is a cartoon movie, but Niju's personality is very different from the others. Even perhaps enigmatic. Niju was dead set on standing up for what he believed for, and just because his beliefs were in conflict with Balto's, people write him off as a villain. Even more irritating is the comparisons between Niju and Steele. They are nothing, and I mean nothing, alike. Steele is your typical moron that relishes in popular attention. He is a fool and a coward, and everything in-between. Niju was a strong wolf. What people need to understand is, however violent and hostile Niju appeared to be, he was acting in the benefit of the wolf pack. When he went against Nava's dream to cross the ice bridge, it was because there was no proof of "the other side", and Niju refused to take that chance. And whether it was the right choice or not, you need to realize that such a decision would ensure that the pack would not be worse-off than they already were.

Niju's behavior toward the end of the movie is often written off as "cowardice", but it is not. Niju was one who relied on the conceivable, not the inconceivable. He knew where they were was home. Whatever waited on the other side relied on dreams. And in the end, Nava did in fact did go off to look for Niju.

Niju - an antagonist, maybe. Villain? No.

I don't know why people see him as the villian, being scared and ending up back at shore is the most un-villianlike thing to do.

Personally, I don't really like him..Not because he was against Balto, but more because I just thought his personality was..well...ick. Just like Aleu's personality was annoying, so was his. XD

But yeah, I'll have to agree that he was not really a villain...All he really wanted was what was good for the pack. But he also was a little power hungry =P

now that I think about it. Niju may have been sensible after all.. Aleu probably could've drowned for all we know *shrugs*

Hmmmm.... Very interesting.... Now that you mention it he really wasn't a true villan but don't hate me for this anyone but I still like Steele better.
