I'm just tired of those who change their names with such great frequency, that they're already changing their name as soon as they've logged on. I think that changes should only be made maximum once per year. And if they delete their account to get around the 90 day wait period, I think it should be a 30 day wait till they can make a new name. I know that'd be hard to do, but then at least you wouldn't have someone changing their names four times a month (two name changes to two accounts)
But of course, there are those special exception cases, like a name clash, where two members incidentally have the same, or very similar name is OK.

That is slightly annoying yes especially when those members come to the mods and say "this person stole my name! ]<" because there's nothing we can do. They may not be the only person to come up with that name and they decided not to have it when they changed it.
About the frequent name changes, they are more annoying. I do get sick of seeing someone with one name and then after a while they have a completely different name and then do it again and again!
As far as I know Steet did put something to stop people changing their names so often by only allowing a name change once in 3 months. =/
I've been here since 2006...I think...and have only ever changed my name once.

He did put in a no name change system. Once you change your name, you have to wait around 90 days in order to change your name again. The way around this, is to delete your account, and re-register. If nobody knew, I wouldn't say it, but it's well talked about from the amount of people I observe doing it.
I've had the same name for somewhere around, or over six years now. Before this site opened up, even.

I can see the annoyance caused by this, but I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that this is one of the lesser issues on this site.
I agree with what was said about a user changing their name, and still expecting it to be their own. They changed their username. Therefore, it is not a case of name-jacking if someone else decides to use it. And I'd like to point out that many names on this site are unoriginal and uncreative, and easily duplicated. The unoriginal usernames I am talking about are generally the ones with the names of characters from the movies.
As for name changes in general, I feel that the impact is relative to the member. For example, if someone is considering changing their username, it would be a good idea for them to put, somewhere in their profile, "Formerly [insert name]". It is considerate to others in identifying who the member who changed their username is.

Some people have strange problems... I think I started the "1925" trend. I don't care, I find it funny. *I have no creativity. Hmm I'll put 1925, on my name too.* Ghost-Unit, I agree. There is no creativity. None. Considering I have the word "Balto" in my name, I made it creative. Mostly aiming at the real Balto. Mighty as in, describing the will power. Balto (the object) 1925. The year.

Say someone has drawn a picture that they dont want, or they draw another version of it, but slightly changed. Then somebody goes and says 'oh they dont want that art anymore so i think i'll take it' It still belongs to them, they still created it! Say if someone took my old name, i'd be pretty peeved, cause i (with help of freinds ^^) Created that name, and they don't ahve permission to basically steal my (whole) idea! No matter who uses it, you still created it. The 'new name every day' issue has been solved already; one cannot change one's name whenever one wants to on the site. Unless one keeps deleting accounts and making new ones, which is quite senseless since you loose all your other work, in other words any sense of 'identity'... I agree with you Tani, but usually such cases have to do with names that werent very original in the first place, and that are usually coincidentially the same.
