Reading a post on here somewhere, a brilliant discussion point popped up in my mind.

Balto ran off to fetch the medicine and Steele after the team was lost. He felt for Rosie especially and decided to run off after the team to try and bring the medicine back in an attempt to make Jenna happy.

So here's the question - would Balto still go after the medicine and the lost sled team if:
a) Jenna was not Rosie's pet but was still close to Balto
b) Jenna was out of the plotline completely and Rosie was just another child
c) Jenna was just a friend to Balto
d) Jenna was at the time in a relationship with Steele
e) Star/Nikki/Kaltag was Rosie's pet and Jenna was out of the plotline
f) Steele did not lead the team but was still in it
g) Steele was completely out of the plot
h) Both Jenna and Steele were completely out of the plot


Good question eh?


So here's what I thought:
a) Yes, as Steele in that case would be trying to win Jenna over by saving the kids and Balto wouldn't want her to be misled
b) Yes if he was still close to Rosie. Possibly if she wasn't, not sure
c) Yes
d) This is a really devilishly hard scenario for me to answer but I'm going to go with yes.
e) This is actually a no for me. He was motivated because of Jenna to save Rosie and the kids, but I doubt he would go after the team.
f) Yes
g) If Steele was completely out of the plot and all his actions removed Balto would be on the team, probably leading it... and I think Balto would slip down the slope Steele had. Balto was still hasty under the pressure of being lost.
h) No. He wouldn't have a motivation therefore the confidence to try out on the team

So. What be ye answers? :]

For such a neat topic, it did. Seems this would be a popular topic.
I think Balto, still would of done this. He would of herd what happend and proved himslelf.

Yeah thats a definete in my opinion, although Balto firstly cares about Jenna first and Rosy I still think we would have enough reason and wanting to help to go after the team.



Hmm, have to say that when he did go after the team you could see he was mainly motivated to go after them when Balto saw Rosy's condition. Without Jenna it would be unlikely that Balto would fully notice Rosy and might just have seen her as another kid.For this one I think "no", not because Balto wouldn't want to but because he wouldn't have a drive or desire to go help the team, he just got shifted by Steele and would be feeling bad and would probably leave it up to him to get the medicine back if he clearly wasn't wanted by Steele.



Yes, just as much as if they were in love, people do great things for friendship and I cant imagine why Balto wouldn't still want to help Jenna and Rosy out.



Ooh ouch... Umm to be honest this would be a no, I still think Jenna would obviously have her nice personality (Steele isnt THAT influential) but Balto's main drive to want to save Rosy would not be there, Jenna would probably end up supporting Steele in his going to get the medicine and Balto would most likely not want to go because of the two.



Star, Nikki and Kaltag put on a show of not liking Balto early on and when the trio go off with Steele to get the medicine again Balto would not know Rosy like he does in the film so would most likely stay and leave it up to the team.



Thats a yes to me, could go either way but it seems more likely that Balto would still go after them.



Thats a certian yes and Balto would have more than likely made the team as lead dog... but would he had realised the potential of the wolf inside him? I think so.



Again yes, as we've seen balto has a great and caring heart and he would defienitely want to help the children, again I also think he would have made the team too.
