I'll have to say this movie was a whole lot better than I expected. I took my younger cousins to go se it expecting a generic CGI moneymaker. After seeing it, I thought it was a well made, adventurous animated romp on par with maybe even some of Pixar's work. Po (Jack Black) the panda is a fat, lazy bear with a good heart who dreams of being a member of the village's elite martial artists: The Furious Five. When the ceremony where one of the five is chosen to be a dragon warrior occurs, Po can't get in. Thinking quick, he comes up with an "ingenious" plan involving some fireworks to find his way in. Po ends up landing in front of the grandmaster's finger when the warrior is chosen, leaving him the dragon warrior. The trainer of the five, Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) insists on a redo, trying to convince the grandmaster it was an accident, but the master refuses to reconsider.
We cut away from the zaniness to find out that an evil warrior named Tai Lung (Ian McShane) has escaped his prison, and plans on wreaking havoc on the peaceful valley. When word gets out, it's up to Shifu to turn Po into the ultimate Kung Fu master.
But how?
As you can imagine, The Furious Five aren't exactly too fond of Po. Especially Tigress (Angelina Jolie) who thinks that Po is a disgrace to Kung Fu. The parts where Po gets to converse with the five are brief, but very amusing, the awkward run-in with Crane (one of my favorite comedians: David Cross) being a highlight. However, most of the time in the temple is devoted to the crazy training antics of Po and Shifu. For the most part, these scenes are well done, and are sure to inspire a few chuckles, but there were times when some of the slapstick got tiresome. None the less, it's fun to see the relationship develop (one scene comes to mind) between them.
Despite being an animated film, Kung Fu Panda has its share of action scenes. Dreamworks really did their homework for these. Each one is expertly staged, fantastically choreographed, and delightfully over the top. This is where the film showcases its brilliant animation. You may even get more of a thrill out of these than some action movies.
All this being said, Kung Fu Panda isn't perfect. Like I said earlier, it does overdo the slapstick a bit, which will keep the kids laughing, but will have you rolling your eyes. Also, despite making cliche's the butt of many of its jokes, it whips one out every once in a while for the sake of plot, making the film's lack of new ideas a tad more apparent. I also think The Furious Five could've been more developed (especially Jackie Chan who only has around two lines)
Despite my complaints, Kung Fu Panda is summer fun for the whole family.

9.1/10

I saw the movie last week, it was hilarious. My mom, whos a teacher, acually thought it was hilarious (especially when po sat on tai lung and all you can see was tai lung's eye) it had more action than i had expected it to have, which was suprising. :P

Adam Sandler = Hack

All of his movies (with the exception of Happy Gilmore) couldn't be less funny if they tried.

That film was funny. Jack Black is always funny.

I thought 'Don't mess with the Zohan' was rather... disturbing. :?

I would give Kung Fu Panda a 9.5/10.

However, for Zohan, I would give it a 5/10. :?

I have to admit, when I saw the first posters for Kung Fu Panda, I thought it looked like a really bad idea. However, when the trailers came out, I was a lot more interested in seeing it. It's easily one of the best CGI animated movies I've seen. Believe it or not, the same night I saw it, I already had a dream about that universe, and I already have a Kung Fu Panda fursona

I really liked the movie, honestly! It was very clean for "nowadays junk" as someone I'm sure says it but I don't know who. I was nearly rolling in the theater laughing! And even my dad thought it was funny-and that is almost as rare as hen's teeth. My little brother even liked it! (He's disabled) and now, whenever someone says the word "kung fu", he goes bezerk, imitating a kung fu master!
