Hey. I noticed something today when I was watching something about TLK. On this site there is Balto and lion king, right? well, I don't understand why Balto didn't become as popular as TLK. Whenever I talk about Balto to new friends they ask what that is. but if you talk to someone about lion king they will usually instantly know what you are talking about. Has this occured to you? Why do think it has if so? Maybe because Disney id more popular? other reasons?

Disney is definately more popular with thier advertising... plus I believe this movie was earlier than TLK, so maybe it wasn't as "epic"

they both came out at the same time and naturally Disney is much more popular than Universal Studios... in short Disney sucked up all the advertising for their movie leaving little or none for Balto.

Disney is more popular, and evan now has it's own TV channel (Disney Channel, Play House DIsney and Diney Cinimagic) To advertise on, anyway they still rulest the box back than while Universal really can't get any advertisement.

It's not entirely Disney's fault. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it marketed poorly?

I think the main reason Balto was not as popular was because at the time of it's release Universal and Amblimation (sp?) were splitting which meant niether company really knew who was in charge of advertisement and the advertising for Balto was poor.

Also because Balto was released at the same time as Toy Story and with Toy Story being 1) Made by Disney and 2) Being (I think) the first CGi animated movie.

To add insult to injury, Toy Story also had marketing out the ***.

At least it hasn't been completely forgotten and there are still many that appreciate it. I say share with your friends who haven't heard of Balto..

It's simple, Balto was a Box office flop so it didn't enter the popular culture and therefore your average tom dick or harry don't know about it. It's a cult sucess since it did well in video sales and that there is still a following on it.
