If it really is gonna go down like that, what exactly can we do about it? We can't quite control what the earth does. Just keep moving along, and living the way YOU want to, and if it happens, it happens.

If there is a magnetic pole-change coming in 2012, then the Internet and computers in general will be affected only slightly. The problem is solar flares coming in at the point. It could cause a magnetic storm and that could hit the central that controls the internet, and then the internet would die. Until the employees of the central fixes it, of course.

Stuff like this just reminds me how much I dislike the Bible... interesting maybe... but totally obsurd. Simply because it can be interpretated anyway you want, I hate so called predictions like this. Besides even if it was true, why would you want to know a huge spoiler like that? The day I know something like this, might as well not bother.

Concerning a magnetic pole change they never know exactly when one happens but the last change happened about 700,000 years ago and they're supposed to happen every 100,000 years so we are over due for one at the moment but they can't predict these the next one could happen in 2012 or 100,000 years from now, but yeah I don't think it would effect anything to much. Large solar flare storms do happen occasionally which is usually thanks to the sunspot cycle that occurs every 11 years, its badest when it hits its solar maximum during this time. But you're right that solar flares cause a major issue because they create radio noise which can interfere with transmitting and receiving signals (anyone remember what happened in WW2 when that happened?) but I don't think the internet as a whole would be to much effected by this unless it was so big it destroyed the satellites but if that happened I think the Earth would fry to.

But I agree with some people here, if it happens it happens (which it won't) we just got to move on with life, someone will fix it and by 2013 everything will be back to normal again, no worries.

well i agree with a lot of people here (don't feel like taking a bunch of quotes) but indeed it has something to do with the Mayan Calender.. they were actually pretty smart and predicted many things, i went on a site a few years ago my friend was talking to me about it and i had to go check it out, but apparently their MIGHT be a change or somewhat in the poles and never said world would end but a rumor of 2000 there was because it was a new millennium thats it .. i could say many more things bout this subject but.. i have to go now..

The Y2K thing was about the computers shutting down and malfunctioning. I have a feeling that it was a set up for people to buy into all these "new anti-Y2K computer systems" and whatnot. I didn't believe it, since my Dad was in that field, and he never made a big deal about it. And Look what happened...nothing.

ye good point Alpine.. hehe.. but who knows.. something might.. or might not happen.. we'll keep lving and the world and technology will keep going
