Just giving a sample of what happens when mods are not present during this period of time and why new mods for this time are necessary unless the original mods can handle it

Good grief, some of these people need a permanate (spelling?) IP ban!

It might be helpful,if everyone continuously changed their passwords,or kept them to themselves,and not given them out at all.

Well,maybe new shoutbox mods are needed,or maybe the the ones already there need to be more aware of the situation.

No, we really don't need new mods. You see how many we already have? Look a the staff page. And most of the mods can already ban, not just the shoutbox ones. I think the only mods that can't ban are questions and news editors, but that's about it I believe. We already have alot of mods, that's not where the real problem lies really.

It's in we need to figure out a way for atleast ONE mod to be around when others can't. We're not always going to be around though, we have lives outside this site you know lol, so things will happen when we're not all around, it'll happen, that's why we have that report button, so we can go in and check it later and do what we need to, warn, ban, etc...I'm online alot, and even I will miss things.

It takes a bit to learn and train new mods too, and they might be overwhelmed if they were on alone and that sort of thing happened. It really is stressful for mods, especially new ones to get used to the chaos that sometimes comes around.

However, this is a common problem nowadays. People need to stop using this website as their own private MySpace. Practically every day, a troll will join for the sake of spamming, flaming and being complete idiots. Unfortunately, that’s a way that the troll works. The angrier, stressed and annoyed the members become, they will feel as though they have 'succeeded' and further more continue.

Looking at that, people show very little maturity anymore, like they care anyhow...

A moderator could easily ban them later on. But by that time, the deed would have been done and they would be long gone.
The problem is, we do need someone who can be here at that time. Yes, these people properly couldn't care less about whether or not they get banned. What I'm concerned about is that this is after all, a kid friendly site. I come on mostly every day, but I've never seen anything as appalling as that before.

Ok i will come into this, here is my story.

Wednesday 2nd June 2008; 1:33 PM GMT Local Time.
Username: Baltorocks123; Loggs on.
Real Life: "WHats that site, Whats that site? Exc Exc
Me: Private...
Them: Tell me Now! Now!
Me: Fine! baltosource.timduru.org
Than i helped them register exc exc.
I explained what the main rules are.
Than they start dissing on the site, i try and tell them not to but than, They start fighting in the class.
Than the buzzer went so we logged off.
And that was the past of it...

Well there are a few solutions to this problem :

1. Hire new mods that are in that time zone (As JC said)

2. Hire new mods that are willing to be on late/Ask old mods if they're willing to come on late

3. A time schedual (As JC said)

But one must keep in mind that there will always be some sort of trouble and there will always be a time when there are no mods online...Be it for an hour or even just 15 minutes. There is no such thing as perfection. =P

The banning system works, it's just that it needs some refinement, which it is getting there.

On the topic of "mods willing to stay up late in and different parts of the world" Some people just don't have the time to sit on a computer 24/7/365. I know I don't, and I'd be crazy if I did, even if I had that kind of time to waste. That's the whole reason there's the REPORT TO MODERATOR button...while yes, they'll have logged off, most of them don't go and delete their accounts, thus leaving an IP so we can ban them, and prevent them from coming back. Telling a troll that they're breaking rules and to stop what they're doing doesn't help...it amazes me, with the amount of them that come through here, nobody's figured that out. I mean really, how hard is it to report them?

Not everything is 100% perfect, there's always a loophole somewhere, no matter how much you've got done in security measures. Just remember, report them when they come on, or else there's the high risk of nothing happening, since the moderators don't know.
