Kiara is awesome and reminds me so much of myself. At the start of the movie, she did seem a little irresponible, but for all the strictness and rules her father pinned on her, and the constant talk about her one day being queen and the circle of life, no wonder she didn't wanna be queen if it was THAT boring.
"I'm not JUST a princess you know, that's only half of who I am!"
No one really seemed to get that, until she met Kovu, and because Kovu didn't even know who Kiara was until Simba came.
I don't understand why peoplea can hate Kiara, I mean there are more Steele fans than Kiara fans. Like people say "Kiara is soo annoying!" and they don't even say why. If you ask, they say she was selfish and irresponsible, which she may have been at the very start of the film, but when she meets Kovu and saves him from the crocodile, she already proves that she isn't selfish, and even if she is a little irresponsible to start with, once she is united with Kovu she has the responsibility (which Kovu slightly lacks) to go and stop the war between their prides.
Honestly, I don't mind people disliking characters if they can give reasons for it (like me not liking Simba), but when they just say they're annoying, it annoys me.
Kiara rocks forever.

Finally, some people who actually like Kiara other than me! *yays* Well, I will agree with VividLegacy on how Kiara was in the beginning - she was quite whiny and annoying, but she's so much like her father when he was that age. She wants to be independent and free to do things without her father's watchful eyes always on her (Doesn't she just remind you of Aleu somehow?). Although, I've always wondered what she actually meant by that phrase: "I'm not just a princess you know; that's only half of who I am!" Seriously, was she meaning that she's not just the next in line for the throne but also a lioness, or perhaps . . . was it foreshadowing to her and Kovu (near the climax when they look in the water at their reflections, he says, "Hey, look - we are one," and their halved faces became one new face) being together? (Because when they came together, that united the Pridelanders and the Outlanders as one pride, duh.) But yeah, Kiara's one of my favorite Disney Princesses (although she needs more merchandise . . .), but she's quite a believable character and easy to relate to. Yes, she's the typical stereotype of the overprotected daughter, and sure, she's no good at hunting, but she's still a fun female whose wisdom shines through in the darkest of times. Here's a piccy. ^___^ Attachment:
