If you are willing, and feel compelled and obligated to teach new members "the ropes", then more power to you. There is, however, no rule (written or implied) which requires any experienced member to take time out of his or her experience on Balto Source, Lion King Source or Animation Source to hand-hold and teach the newbies (or especially the "n00bs"). And it is unreasonable for you to say that any experienced member is obligated and responsible for doing so.
As I said...you want to do that, go for it. And every experienced member who wants to should. But don't claim that we HAVE to, because that is ridiculous. The rules are posted, in plain and simple English, for every new person to read. It IS, in fact, a requirement and obligation for every new member to read the rules, and to comply with them. At all times. And there are many references to the rules all over the site. And helpful sections all over. That should be quite enough for a new member to avoid the common pratfalls, and to nullify any violation of the rules as anything other than ignorance and defiance.
I find it unreasonable to expect all new users to come to the forums after reading the rules and simply fit in without making a few mistakes. Although it is not a rule most new users expect to be corrected when they're wrong by a more experienced member as opposed to being criticized or ridiculed. This is merely my opinion, I'm not trying to start an argument, I find arguing in an online forum childish and pointless as the ignorance of other members often causes unnecessarily long debates .
