its possible. Fear is what fuled Niji's actions, he did not wish to leav the land he'd called his home for no one knows how long. Once he learns to except that all things must change I'm sure he'll be back to himself again

I think he can - it'll take a lot of time for that chang to finally happen IMO, but I believe that it's possible for anyone, even a wolf like Niju, to eventually change their ways.

However, it is possible that he may always be the coward that everyone now sees him as. I agree with Rain here - Niju was consumed by fear when he was given the chance to be a leader, but one day he may understand the whole "Grand Design" theme that things will always change, whether you want them to or not.

And yes, I'll admit it - he changes in my fics. (only because he realizes that he likes Aleu . . . LOL that's irony, darnit.)

Of course, he can. As long he don't think Aleu as a dog, but a wolf, moreover, he sure must try hard to accept female as a leader.

That's true; however, I suppose Niju is more of one of those guys that thinks that only purebred wolves (males, mainly) should even be considered to lead a wolf pack. It's mirroring typical society when you think about it, but of course, Aleu ends up tearing down that wall and soon becoming leader by fate.

Actually I find it strange how Niju even knows of some of the things about part-breeds (like the term "mutt" and stuff like that) . . .
