It looks interesting. I will probably play it when it's made though I do hope it doesn't get out of hand =/ People with other comics who have lower budgets may get hounded by their fans to make a game too, I sure hope not.
Yeh, I am a bit sceptical about it, I know most BBA fans will be dying for this but I dunno...not so sure about a BBA game.
(Yes, I am a BBA fan myself).

Personally, I'd put the idea on a piece of bread, put it in my mouth, chew it, then spit it out on the floor and stomp on it.
I'm a BBA fan myself, but a game? No thank you very much. A game would most probably ruin the comic series, and become just another chatroom. I highly doubt there will be any successful games out of BBA (I'm a game creator myself, and I know full-well how much work it actually is to make a good game).
Also, if it costs money to play, then I won't really buy/subscribe to it.
Artists who charge money for their works (I can understand paintings and traditional artwork sold on real-life exhibitions) annoy me a bit, because everyone should be able to enjoy art, not just a select few who can afford to pay hundreds of dollars to get your hands on artwork drawn in COMIC style, which (to be truthful) only requires effort to colour properly.
Now, if the image was realistic, that'd be another story. Selling a game is also fine, although I'm not paying for a low-quality 2-Dimensional game, sadly.
In any case, I'm straying off the topic (rant over lol). My point is that there is only a 3% chance that the BBA team will be able to pull this off, and even less if they are trying to earn money out of it.

Both Kay and ESDA had said that the whole game was going to be free to play. And for those fans who want to go overboard they did say there was going to be a shop tied to the game where players can buy visual extras. So far the only thing they've done with money that I know of was a fundraiser to make money for the development team. From what I've seen so far the game looks promising. Though the only thing I've seen were in-game stills. At this point anything can happen. tala the whitewolf wrote: i don't want to sound stupid but whats BBA? i don't want to sound stupid but whats BBA? The BBA is short for The Blackblood Alliance. It's a graphic novel by Kay Fedewa and E. Siegel. The BBA website: http://www.theblackbloodalliance.com/Kay's DA page: http://kayfedewa.deviantart.com/Siegel's DA page: http://esda06.deviantart.com/

Though the only thing I've seen were in-game stills. At this point anything can happen. Yes, but will the game stay true to the BBA series, will it be for roleplayers? Or will it be "just another chat" with no meaning at all? I doubt there will be many people playing it if there is no story in it or if it's just for chatting. I hope it won't be that, because yes, it's interesting. But I'm still 90% certain it will not stay true to the BBA comic and get filled with socalled "lolboys". I may just be picky here, but I've noticed the engine Kay and her team uses is the Valen Games engine. I mean, come on? I've tried that engine, and I swear to whoever is up there that it's horrible T_T Its limitations are limitless, to say the least. I can script a fully working with almost-no bugs using the Ruby coding (which requires no actual Engine, frankly, as it is its own), and I can do anything. I can make a single-player game, or an MMORPG. I can make the world static or not. The Valen engine is a big waste of money in my humble opinion (Ruby is free and you can make commercial games with it legally).

Won't work with the current plans they've laid out. Simple as that.

Pretty much the engine, which will most probably bug up when playing online. The Valen engine is optimized for low-res 2D OG's, not such a high res. as the BBA team are using (judging by the screenies). I expect the game to be very laggy.

I was talking to Cobalt with that statement. You've already said your support, as well as I. And sure, let's go with that. I don't know anything about the good and bad aspects of the Valen engine; or any other engine for that matter. But if there's one thing I know about programming is that different people program in different ways, just like how different people think differently. So there's one thing we should all consider: your experiences and level of programming and the BBA team's experiences and level of programming can be (and probably are) very different. They can very well find a way of changing the existing Valen engine for the better and for what they need. Not to mention they are a team, as in more than one or two minds working on the project. Like I said before: The game is still far too early into development to tell, really, anything about it. Anything can happen.

Well, with the majority of wolf RPing-like games, they all turn into havens for lolboys. How will this be any different? How will they prevent it turning into this?

It's undeniable that the BBA game will suffer from that. But so do every other online RPG. Free-to-play or pay-to-play, it doesn't matter, these type of game are always hit with player crap. It's just something to expect if you're going to develop such a game. That just leaves questions that the BBA development team have to answer. How will they prevent this? What measures will they need to take to lower the magnitude of the problem? I'll tell you the answer to one of those questions: make sure there's enough things for the players to do that vary from a wide array of activities and in-game skills. That way the players won't get bored and revert to just socializing; make sure the players have something to shoot for. That's one answer anyways. But the test for developers isn't just answering questions because anyone can do that, but what they do to meet those answers. As people not involved with the game, the only thing we can do is just sit back and wait out the development time (which Kay had guessed about a year) until we see results of the BBA team's efforts.

Yeah, I want to open a non profit bingo hall in my area. I have no idea where to even begin. I really have no knowledge of opening a business but believe once I get it going I will be okay. I live in The Bay Area, CA and bingo halls seem to be the new thing around here. Can anyone tell me how I might open a non profit bingo hall in my area? Any helpful ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
