Remember when I said I was working on a buncha fics? Well, I wasn't lying. But I can't seem to finish these three fics. I haven't worked on them in months, and well, I lost motivation for it XD I even tried re-reading some of my fanfics to get in the mood for it, but that ain't working either. (Characters copyrighted to their respectful owners)
These three fics may be familiar to you. The first one is an idea from Rotramel the writer. The summer was a little something like this "6) Kiona has never been as religious as her cousin Shadow. He's a believer of Aniu, while Kiona is neutral on the spirit. But what happens when she encounters Aniu herself? Will Kiona change her mind about Aniu? Or will she just see it as that of a dream?"
The part of the fic I have written took place somewhere in the middle of what I planned, but what stopped me was that I couldn't think of a good enough reason for Kiona to be out in the wilderness by herself. The title of the fic wasn't gonna be anything special.
"Finding Aniu"
A strange scent awakened me; my body half-buried in the thick snow. I was so cold...colder than I have ever been. So cold, I was afraid to open my eyes for fear of having them frozen like my body. I tried moving, but it caused me a great deal of pain. I felt nothing, but coldness and stiffness. Just the same, I knew I had to move. I had to get out of here. I lifted myself from the snow, clumsily shook some snow from my face, and looked ahead. Emerging from a sea of white, was the form of a large white wolf. The scent belonged to it.
When I was looking at the white wolf, I could feel new strength swell inside of me as it peered into my own eyes. The wind was blowing from behind it, forcing the snow to follow, making it seem as though the white wolf was responsible for the snowfall. Staring at it, I remembered a legend I once heard about, about a white wolf spirit who came to lost travellers in the winter storms. I also remembered my cousin Shadow mentioning the Great Aniu, the white wolf; a goddess. Could this be the same Aniu? Or the same wolf spirit?
"Are you...Aniu?" I asked, my voice shaking with excitement.
The wolf didn't say anything, and just closed its eyes. The wind blew harder, causing me to wince, expecting to feel pain that never came. I opened my eyes again and the wolf was further away, looking at me still. It took one step with his front leg, bracing itself to start walking. It was urging me to follow it. Not wanting to make this great one wait, I, by some miracle, stood with ease. If I wasn't supposed to follow the white wolf, I would've stayed astonished by my newfound energy. I ran towards the wolf, seeing it break into a slow run, and begin to disappear.
"No! Don't go!" I thought to myself. Wanting to reach the wolf so terribly, I ran right through the transparent wolf, which then vanished completely. Doing that, I felt myself lose control, but not in the usual mad way. It felt more like the wolf was leading me with my own body. It felt like the moon itself was shining its power within me. My breaths were deep, and a long powerful howl, one I have never done before, escaped me as I ran through the forest. And soon, without even realizing, I found the one I was looking for.
The second fic was an idea provided by Rangerwolf. The summary was "1) About Balto's great granddaughter Dinah. She and her master ship to Africa to study cheetahs but they end up getting lost in the terrible African jungle." This part of the fic was at the beginning. I know exactly what's going to happen, however, what made me stop was that, well, I couldn't think of a way to make it build up.
"Untitled"
"You ready to get back on land, Lovely?" asked my master Bran. I barked in response, with a few wags of my tail. I really was ready to get off this ship. It was hot and reeked of men and dead fish. The weather was a drastic change from the weather in my first home. I was a few months old at the time, and I lived in a town called Nome Alaska. There I lived happily with my brothers John Tom and Dino, my sisters, Aderyn and Tula, and my mother Stunner, and my father Summer. My first master Meg named me Dinah, but when Bran adopted me, he renamed me Lovely. When I met him I loved him imediately. He had a beard on his face (which is now gone) and wore big glasses, and behind those glasses were a pair of kind, aged eyes. When I was little I spent most of my time with my father, but now I spend most of my time with Bran, who is just like a father to me.
After I was adopted, Bran and I moved down south to a place called California, where he did research on animals. I knew about nothing on such things and I didn't care to. All I wanted to do is go with Bran wherever he went.
Before we got on this ship, I remember sitting on Bran's bed with him. It was a blustery autumn morning and the sun was peering in through the window curtains. Most of Bran's belongings were packed in a large suitcase. He scratched under my chin and smiled. He said that we were going to Africa for a while and he was going to take me with him because he couldn't bare the thought of me being left behind for a long time. I was happy he wasn't abandoning me, though I knew that if he did leave me, that he would be back. He told me that he hoped I didn't get lost, and I told him that I would never leave his side. He didn't understand me, but I meant what I said just the same.
I looked off the edge of the ship and saw land. I was very excited to see land. Paws in warm dirt would be a nice change from the cold deck of the ship. We finally managed to get back on land, but as soon as we did, we had to get on a plane. I was frustrated and didn't want to move just yet, but I followed Bran anyway. We flew for a couple hours, which seemed like years because the sound of the plane was very loud in my ears. I was tempted to just jump out of the plane so that I wouldn't have to hear it anymore.
When we finally landed, we were in a wide, open, golden plain. The grass was very tall, and there were no trees on it, but a few yards away, I could see a forest full of trees I've never seen before. They were oddly shaped and all green. I could hardly see any brown from their trunks because they were covered in mosses and grasses. But the bad thing about this place was it was extremely hot. Hot enough to make anyone go mad.
As Bran unloaded all of his supplies from the plane, I decided to go exploring, mostly to go find some shade to relieve myself from the heat. I made my way to the edge of the forest and as I peered in something in the back of my head told me not to go in there. I looked into the forest and what was weird was I could barely see anything. Sunlight did peer through the leaves, but all the light showed was more trees. I wondered if there was another end to the forest.
"I wouldn't go in there if I were you." said an impossibly deep voice from behind me.
I jumped at the sound ringing in my ears and faced the source of the earth-shaking voice. I looked up to see a huge golden black-spotted cat. I gasped and submitted. I lowered my entire shaking body to the ground as far as I could. I looked to the side and saw another huge spotted cat coming towards me.
"Look, Miki, another dog!" said the first one in his thunderous voice. "Only this one isn't chasing us."
"So what do we do with it?" the second cat said. This one was also male, but seemed younger than the first one. He also wasn't as massive.
I was shaking more than I ever did before. What were these cats going to do to me? Were they going to eat me? Where was Bran?
The larger cat looked at Miki then back down at me with a gentle appearance on his face. "You don't have to be afraid of us, miss, we're just having a bit of sport."
He sounded kind. And convincing; like he meant it. I slowly stood on all fours and smiled nervously. Even standing they were taller than me, though in comparison they were alot sleeker than me. Their thin bodies and long legs said they were definitely built for speed.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Run Like Hell and this is my pal Miki." The two smiled at me. "What's your name?"
"Oh! I'm Lovely." I said. I chuckled at how odd our names were. There was a moment of silence as I warily peered back into the forest.
"As I said, Lovely, I wouldn't go into that jungle." Run Like Hell continued.
"Why?"
The last one is a little longer teaser of "Her Jealousy" which is still being written by Beauty_Jenna and myself, we just haven't had the time to work on it lately. Like I said, the plot's all thought out.
"Her Jealousy"
Stunner woke to a noise coming from outside her and her family's temporaily-empty house. Curiousity got the better of her and she exited through the doggy door. It was cooler out now because the seasons were beginning to change and winter was soon to come. She looked around where the noise was coming from. It was clearer now; it sounded like footsteps and a familiar voice. Facing the direction from whence the familiar voice came, she saw the familiar loved one it came from, however, she was not all too thrilled to see him. He limped towards her, hardly containing his glee. "Summer..." she thought.
She called to him. "Summer! I told you to rest, you know your legs are not well yet!" Stunner exclaimed from the doorstep. She rushed to Summer for help. She was very concerned about him since he broke his legs one night. "Now let me help you," she said "What are you doing here? You know you're not fully well, do you want to go through this again? Well, I don't! So as soon as we get to my house, you lay down and stay put, do you understand?" She hated being such a distressed damsel, but she felt guilty about Summer's accident. She was the one who led him into chasing her.
"Yes, my dear, though I'd like you to stop worrying, I can assure you, I'm perfectly well." He smiled at her, kindly, but amused at her demand for his comfort.
"Yeah right, now stop that nonsense--" Stunner stopped as she saw Summer walking perfectly normal, making circles around her, with no limp in sight.
"Are you impressed?" he asked, winking at her.
"How did you...? What...? But I saw....I saw you hobbl-" Stunner was absolutely...stunned to see Summer up and about so soon after the accident. She was happy for him, but at the same time, confused.
"Allow me to take you home, darling." he offered. He lowered his head and propped her up under her stomach, raising Stunner up onto his back. She laughed.
"Watch out! Summer! Stop, you'll hurt yourself! Now, you know you're still--"
"Healthy? Yes, I'm aware of that" Summer interrupted playfully. The two dogs went together with a delight inside Stunner's house.
"Now, put me down!" she chuckled.
"As you wish," He put Stunner down on her fluffy and soft blanket inside Meg's room. Stunner grabbed Summer's collar and pulled him down in a coltish way, so that Summer laid down next to her. The dogs' privacy was disturbed as an older red hybrid entered the room.
"Hey, Summer!" Quinn exclaimed, noting it was him. "Feeling better? Don't disturb yourselves, I was just leaving." She was rather embarrassed to catch her daughter like this with Summer, explaining why she was speaking rather posthaste. Summer and Stunner didn't move for a while, also out of embarrassment, until Summer decided to say something.
"Morning. Yes, I am feeling well, thank you. How do you do?"
"Ah, fine I guess" Quinn answered.
"Uh mom, where are you goin'?" Stunner broke in.
"Oh, me? I'm just...uh going. To meet with. Your father, that's all" Quinn replied, almost feeling rather ashamed, since Stunner still was angry at her father.
"...Just be careful" Stunner warned. Quinn didn't reply, not wanting to start an argument with her daughter.
"Enjoy yourselves!" She concluded and left the house.
Stunner grew sad. Mentioning her father brought back the terrible thing he did to her mother that she couldn't forget.
"Stunner, honey, are you alright?" Summer asked worried.
"Yes, it's just...my father....you know, when I was little," Stunner only continued when Summer nodded for her to. "My mom took me to my grandpa's to play. I got scared when she left me with him alone cuz Mom and I were always together. She never left me before. I was playing with my grandpa, but I heard growling from where my mom went. I went there and I saw my dad grabbing my mom. It scared me." Stunner felt tears fill her azure eyes. Summer placed his head over her in a canine embrace. "I didn't wait for anything to happen, I jumped in my mom's rescue" She continued.
"Don't cry Stunner...I'm here" Summer comforted her.
"And now you know why I'm worried about her everytime she goes to see him," She said.
"Yes, dear, I know, but don't think about it any more. I believe your mum knows if he's changed or not, she can feel it" Summer explained and nuzzled Stunner. "Is that better?"
"Yep...thank you" Stunner answered. She let what he said sink in. She would have to trust her mother. She changed the subject really quick. "Summer...How come you can walk now but couldn't when I came up to you?"
"Well, I was pretending"
"Pretending?"
"Yes, otherwise I wouldn't be able to surprise you." Summer chuckled.
She smiled and nuzzled him. The two of them made merry until that evening.
The warmest winter Stunner ever had came and went like it was no time at all. She and Summer spent the majority of their time together. Stunner still stayed close to her mother, but for some reason she loved Summer's company...differently. Stunner was hardly ever by herself. She probably saw company as a necessity now. If she wasn't with Summer, she was with her mother, or Meg and her mother. Once in a while she'd see Sadie and Holiday, but never that often. But once spring started, Sadie and Holiday made sure they had Stunner's companionship more often.
One April morning, Sadie and Holiday found Stunner walking through Nome with Meg. The young girl had one hand rested on Stunner's back as they walked. The two dog's approached Stunner and Meg.
"Hello, Sadie! Hello Holiday!" Meg greeted. The two paid her no real mind, which Meg expected from dogs that didn't belong to her. They were more interested in convincing their friend to accompany them to enjoy the beautiful weather, as they mostly did when spring came. "Stunner, I'll come over today to your place, ok?" Sadie offered. "Then we can all take a walk on the beach and sunbathe!"
"Sadie, I told you, Summer's coming over today, you can't come." Stunner was always more interested in being with Summer over Sadie any day. Not to be rude; she and Sadie were kind of cousins, but even so, Sadie didn't make the best friend in the world.
"But Stunner! You know I can't come to you just whenever I want!" Sadie objected. Sadie often had to go to the vets, so she tried to be as active as possible.
"I know, but I can't tell Summer to come over another day either."
"Ok...fine." Sadie agreed, but sounded rather bitter.
"Thanks," Stunner replied nonetheless.
Stunner and Meg returned home quickly to get some lunch. Stunner was fed the usual food, but this time she was feeling dizzy after eating it. Quinn came home finding Stunner rolling on the floor from the pain her belly caused her and Meg's mother was doing what she could to soothe the pain by rubbing her hands up and down the dog's body in a sort of massage.
"Stunner! Are you..? What happened to you, hon?" Quinn asked, rather scared.
"I wish you could tell me. I didn't eat anything wrong, just the usual!" Stunner cried.
"Don't you fret, Quinn," Meg's mom said, bringing Stunner onto her blanket so she could rest. She knew what to do. "Nothing's wrong with her." she smiled to her dog. Understanding, Quinn looked down at her daughter.
"Mom...!" Stunner called.
"Yes, honey" Quinn replied softly.
"What's the matter with me? Why do I feel so dizzy!" Stunner asked.
"You're expecting pups" Quinn said smiling.
"You mean...you mean I'm pregnant?" Stunner asked shocked.
"Yes dear, you are. Don't worry; it's nothing scary, you just need to be careful" Quinn answered.
Stunner smiled "I'm pregnant.." Stunner said again looking at her mother with a joyful smile. "Summer's coming over today, should I tell him?"
"Yes! Of course, I'm sure he'll be very happy!" Quinn leaned down and nuzzled faces with Stunner. She was so proud of her.
It wasn't long until Summer came over. He was most welcome in Meg's home (she and her mother let him in alot of them time, noticing how much Stunner liked him) and once he was there, Quinn left with Meg and her mother to run errands. Summer walked into Meg's room, where Stunner dwelled and licked her face. He found it a bit odd that she didn't go to greet him at the door, but he didn't question her out loud.
"How are you, darling?" he asked, laying beside her, nuzzling her neck.
"I'm wonderful," she replied. "Know why?"
"Why?" Summer asked, accidentally simultaneous with Sadie, who obviously barged into the house uninvited. Stunner and Summer looked at Sadie with surprise, while she stood there simply curious as to why Stunner felt wonderful.
Stunner whispered in Summer's ear, "I'm having pups." and Summer smiled as big as he could, his green eyes sparkling with life and excitement. If Sadie hadn't spoke up the instant after the news, Summer would've jumped up in joy.
"What!?" Sadie thought to herself. Pups!? Stunner's having puppies already!? How could this be! They couldn't have possibly been Summer's! No! "I refuse to believe it!" she thought again before saying aloud, "Pups? Oh, uh...who's are they?" Sadie obviously heard the news. She tried playing dumb. She knew all too well who the father must've been. She just refused to believe it. It was too painful for her.
"Are you serious?" Stunner asked, quietly to herself. "They're ours." she answered, referring to herself and Summer.
Sadie's eyes widened, making room for more tears to come. She tried her hardest not to appear hurt, but she wasn't sure about how good of a job of it she was doing. This was terrible... Summer was her own! He didn't belong to Stunner! And she didn't belong to him! They were both taking from her only to give to themselves! Summer was stealing her best friend, and Stunner was stealing her beloved mate! At least she hoped that one day he would've been her mate... It was no wonder Summer picked Stunner over her... If only... "Dammit!" Sadie thought to herself. She turned around to not face them, said "Congratulations," then left without saying anything more.
Hope these excited you. I'll probably end up working on a short story not having to do with any of these soon. I don't know which one. I may even find a whole new idea. Who knows.
