Well..I'm not quite sure what to say about this...

Yes, sometimes renders are sloppy but, there are alot of members learning how to do this so...You can't ask them for perfection or even close to perfection.

I know there must be a few members who could do alot better, but chose to do a sloppy job because it's faster. Those should not be accepted, only renders with effort should be accepted. But, sadly there's no way anyone could possibly tell which was done lazilly and which was done with alot of effort.

As for there being less renders...Well, I'm half and half. I think there should be at least one non-render (that is directly Balto related) for every third render. What I mean by this is, lets say you send in three renders, you should at least send in one that is not a render and is directly Balto related.

Well...That's what I think. =P

I'm pretty sick of it too...renders are ok, I did one once for fun but I much prefer actual images.
It doesn't take much to save a screencap as a .PNG and colour over it properly and as for those still learning, don't upload them until you are satisfied, people can't actually think that half of these are proper renders...

I also think that there should be perhaps a limit on renders...the entire first page of fan images is all renders and most without any other images at all.

I'm not totally certain renders are even legal!...

If renders aren't illegal, then they should be made to be forbidden.

I think you mean legal. =P

I think they are legal as long as you state that you didn't actually draw it and that you drew over it...Not sure though.

Uk---) Yeh, Like I stated above, there should be some limits with renders.. =S

For now, they aren't illegal, but they are bound to be because, to say the truth, they are polluting the fan images.
The problem is, some people DO make good renders, so it's at the same time it's a shame to forbid them entirely.
So if I made a rule, that would be : "Bad renders are not allowed", but how to define "bad"? If someone has an idea...
Otherwise, I would have to put "quotas" on how many are acceptable in a gallery.

FINALLY.

I am sick to death of the front page of the images being over-populated with terribly cheap renders. It still happens! I don't know how it bypasses the rule we ALREADY HAVE in place now, apparently we need mods for fan images now in order to control this PLUS the rising amount of render theft. The rule needs to be stricter and enforced better.

I will repeat myself : there's no rule specifying renders are not allowed YET.

I meant the obviously terribly sloppy MS Painted ones that are still getting through, not all renders in general

Maybe a basic quality of renders could be accepted.

Something along the lines of these :

1. If the the render are too squiggly and aren't done neatly (By squiggly I mean that the lines are incredibly far from what they should be)

2. If the render is done so messily that the moderators cannot tell what it is

3. If it shows terribly that no effort was put into the render

I'll edit my post if I think of more "requirements".

there already is such a rule, although poorly implemented

Yep, I'm sick to death of poorly done renders. There are some that are beautiful and obviously look like someone has put a lot of effort into it, but more often than not I see ones that are labelled:

OMG this is my charrie he is da kewlest eva!!!!

And then what follows is a large poorly painted blob that resembles a pre-digested wedding cake. Not only does it not resemble a dog or wolf in any way, but it looks like it was slapped together in MS Paint in about five seconds.

And I'm not talking about new people who are simply learning - that I do not mind at all. But it's when there are galleries that have around 100 of these, because (a) the artist cannot be bothered to draw their own characters and (b), they know they are going to get praise regardless.

Seriously guys, rendering is almost an artform in itself and like all art it requires effort, care and patience.

Hey, here's an idea, how about giving some "constructive criticism" to those who don't make the best renders instead of just shunning them, maybe then they will have better renders, we could be a little nicer.
