This has been something which has annoyed me for quite some time. Those endless topics and posts about how much people worship wolves and huskies or how fighting dog breed are stereotyped, or horse breeds. It's alright to love wolves and huskies deeply or be concerned about stereotyping Pitbulls, and post about it when it seems fitting. I myself love wolves and huskies and don't think that any breed is naturally vicious all of the time. Horses are my favorite animal so the endless horse topics don't annoy me much, but to people who prefer other animals over horses, are probably just as annoyed over them as I am over the wolf and husky obsession topics.
But it's when several topics and posts are made that it starts to get annoying. People should learn to put themselves in other peoples shoes to see whether a topic would be annoying or not.

Many people just live with it. Like me, I'm obsessed with horses myself. However, I learn to live with the many wolf topics.
Besides, you have to think about, this IS a Balto site. You have to expect many wolf topics.

Well, first off, since this is a Balto site, there are obviously going to be animal lovers (I'm one of them) and more specificly, wolf and husky lovers. I mean after all, the movie Balto is about a wolf\dog sooo...

As for members getting upset because of people stereotypings breeds of dogs or horses, well, of course it's going to happen. Actually, people who stereotype breeds kinda tick me off, so I'm one of those people. But, of course, when I encounter people like this, I don't attack them viciously, I just try talking to them nicely about what I think and what I know about Dog behaviour.

I don't see anything wrong with topics that discuss how the owner of the topic believes it's wrong to stereotype breeds of dogs as long as it remains respectful, without flame and has reasonable replies and reasons for what they believe.

Although, if you're refering to the aimless "Wolves aarre teh best !!1111 Stup not lyiikin them !!!11" posts, then, in that case I agree completely. I mean come on, is that really going to change anything or help anyone understand how you feel? No, it's not. It'll only cause fights or people will just read the post and ignore it.

I understand your point. This is a Balto site. Balto is about a wolf-dog, and wolves do play a major role in it.
I just wish people would turn down what they show of their obsession in prose a bit, and release it some other form, such as art or poetry.
Or I could learn to live with the slightly variated topics over the same subject.
Hmm.
And I understand your point as well, x_X_Emily_X_x, there's nothing wrong with making a topic or so about how it's wrong to stereotype breeds, because it raises awareness (for example I knew next to nothing about fighting dogs before those topics came around) . But at one point, there were so many topics, it was kind of annoying. And I also meant the wolf loving in SMS. Yeah that is very annoying.

Well, yes, I understand that too many can get annoying, but right now I don't really see many in the recently posted in topics. But, yes, though, I do agree it's pretty pointless to post a billion topics about it all around the same time. But, if there hasn't been such a topic in weeks or months, someone is bound to post another one. Lol, but that doesn't bother me when it's only one.

Thank you for explaining that you don't like i love wolves topics in SMS. I made one about wolves and how I love them. You scared me there for a while.

As for other stuff, I love mostly ALL animals and i respect other peoples opinions, so if someones stereotyping about horses or Pitbulls. I don't know what you mean. Stereotyping as in saying you hate fighting pitbulls and then everyone says they don't care then they say 'Oh, I don't care anymore.' Do you mean that.

You're welcome. On a side note, not just to you, but for everybody who reads this, I meant, not just the SMS wolf loving topics, but all of these countless wolf worshiping topics. One member making one little topic is alright, but when other people start making slightly variated versions, it gets a bit annoying. (And I know, I have said almost that exact same thing throughout my posts in this topic, but I felt the need to put that in there to make it seem senseful.)
And no, I don't mean that I don't care about people sterotyping dog breeds, I just said that I was annoyed at how many topics there are over almost the same subject.
(I apoligize if I seemed rude or sassy anywhere in my posts. Wording my thoughts in a non-offensive manner isn't the easiest thing for me.)

Just thought I'd clearify something. When I gave the example of what I thought was a pointless topic with the SMS, I wasn't just saying I didn't like SMS. I also meant if you just say that, even spelled correctly, it's pointless. You have to add information (interesting information and as true as possible). It only bothers me when people make short topics with nothing interesting in them..or if they are just completely impossible to comprehend..

Omg, I agree with you soo much! Those wolf/husky topics really get on my nerves. I always wo der, why do people keep making those huusky topics, but not for any other breed. Its so annoying. I roll my eyes every time I see them.. even though I do adore huskies. I also dispise the dog fighting topics. Also all of those "eating animals is wrong" topics. Though I really don't mind the horse topics, but thats just because theres not that many horse topics. (horses are my favorite animal too )

You don't know how much I agree with you.

It's a forum. About a movie. With animals.

Need I say more?

((This would be better off locked))

I'm with Cobalt.

Remember, this is a Balto-based site (no offense to those who prefer The Lion King, but Balto Source came before The Lion King Source), wherein there are wolves and dogs and wolf-dogs. Another major point of the film is dog-sledding. I would assume that the breeds being primarily discussed would be of the sledding variety.

If you want to talk about horses or any other animal, which do not fall under either film, you can find sites where such discussion is more to your liking. I am quite certain that if you want to talk about horses, there are undoubtedly sites devoted to Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and every other creature that dwells on the site.
