Well yeah, it's only a couple of little things really but it's starting to get on my nerves now.

1: What is with the current "can you add idea (c) to me?" trend in the Balto fan sections? =/
I've seen it a few times now. Someone makes a requests topic, for example, asking for some random charries for a fic of theirs, another member either posts in their topic asking if they can make a topic asking for the same thing or just does either coz they like the idea and are having problems making some charries of their own or coz they didn't see the other person's topic and had the same idea.
The annoying thing is, if they asked, the author of the topic will reply saying "Sure you can but can you add 'idea (c) me' please?" OR the other person will make a topic asking the same thing and the person who made the "original" topic will post in their topic saying asking them to add "idea (c) them".......WHY?
Hate to burst your bubble but you're not the first person to ever do that on this site, people have been making the same topics since this site's creation so what makes the idea so special to you?
If you HAD to add that the idea was (c) anyone (which you can't because you can't (c) an idea for a topic that been used by loads of other people on this site or on other sites) then you'd have to track down the very first topic like that and add (c) the author of THAT topic.

2: "I'll post mine later"......Now this is becoming annoying. You see it mostly in adoption topics but people have also done the same in "what's your version of ...?" topics and the "can you make me a char for ...?" topics. I personally would class it as spam, why reply to a topic saying that? It adds absolutely nothing to the topic and most of the time people don't even go back and actually add their bio or reply etc. later on anyway. It's almost as bad as when someone starts writing a bio (say in an adoption topic) and stops halfway through and says "I'll finish it later"...uh...why not wait to post until you know you have time? Or if it's a long bio why not type it in Word or Notepad to finish it all and then copy > paste it when you're finished? Or even if you think you have time and you have to go do something, copy it into Notepad and save it to paste it in a reply later so you don't waste space in the topic?

Ok, end-rant now. =]

I think it's COMPLETELY ridiculous to copyright an idea for a topic. It's dumb. I don't see any point in it..

Although, copyrights to an idea about a creature you made up is a absolutely acceptable. (example of what I mean : Livvy's Guardians of The Cold.)

But...a topic...copyrighted? No, that's just completely useless. I'm sorry to whoever does this, but, copyrights for a topic, just does not make any sense..You can't own a topic.

Instead of making a rant about a topic, why not just give out warnings, and if they don't listen to you, simply lock the topic.

She didn't make a rant about a topic. She made a rant about how she dislikes it when someone copyrights a topic. =P

Well,it's a real pity,if they won't copyright the owner, and if they continue to not do so,they should be warned.

You didn't quite get it CJ, you CAN'T copyright a topic idea for the simple reason that far more people had the exact same idea ages ago and not just on BS.

It's also not a rule not to do so coz that would just be a pathetic and silly rule, I was getting to the point that it's annoying when some people insist others add "idea (c) them" on a topic.

Ideas, or any intangible detail for that matter cannot be copyrighted.

Sadly, the writing in the topic can be.

Well to be quite honest locking it won't get anyone anywhere. If someone has a really reat, large fan art topic there'd be no point in lokcking it for such a simple reason, anoying as it is.

Rant 1:

It's completly ridiculous, but what strikes me is the way you can open up a perfectly good topic, neatly presented well-made, and a bunch of people just spam it with 'HEY!!!! Tiz Idea waz © **Name** I am SO reporting You!!1  ' Really, it's just so pointless, not to mention ruining a perfectly good topic that will proberly end up locked.

Too many people are begining to think that by slapping a (C) into their words everything belongs to them.

It's ok with Fan Arts, but my putting a '©' down it's not actully Copywrited to you officaly, so what if you typed it? I can put an (R) next to my website name, dosn't mean It's officaly registered. Although putting an © and name on your art help keep thiefs away.
Now too many people are mistaking art and ideas.

Rant 2:

I couldn't agree more. I know that I myself to it, but only in certain places, makin sure I later come back to add in my bio and picture that same day, if not soon.

But I end up seeing half a dozen people post on a topic saying "Picture Soon!" -_-' If the picture can wait, the bio can wait. Whats the mad rush to get your bio in anyway? You usally have a over month to send it. But still they go and forget about it, but ah well, just means they won't have a chance of winning or adopting whatever it is they were after ^^ Tough luck I suppose.

Thats all I'm going to say.

Rant 1:
I agree with you, it's absurd! And to be honest, many of the topics that are given their own little (c) have already existed (mind you, many in a higher quality) either on BS or a different site. Besides, you can slap the little "c" on anything you want. It still remains a letter none the less.
When people start flaming about someone having "stolen their topic" it's more than annoying. If people seriously lack so much in their lives that the only way to get acknowledged is by naming topics (in other words slapping little meaningless (c)s everywhere), well then sorry. If your really so wound up on something on the net belonging to you, do some art or write some fanfics.

Rant 2:
I agree here too.
"I'll post mine later..." as in adding another paragraph or some pictures... Or maybe a whole section of text in which case it not being there makes the whole topic loose any point. Don't people realize, that an audience is more likely to participate if they get a full picture and can actually reply? Why not wait till you can present the whole thing?
These break-offs or break-ins waste space and people's time.
Outright cases of this in reply threads should in fact be considered spam.
