Like, in 2011. Now, i'm not so sure. If that's true, I'm SO going to get myself a PS3 and buy that game. I've been wanting to play FF7 for a while now, but the graphics kinda turned me off every time I tried. And yeah, they are making it. Their first demonstration was a Tech Demo to demonstrate the power of the console. However, the boxart could be fanmade.

Probably. I'm not sure. I've never seen the front cover art before, but all the pictures on the back are from Advent Children, so I don't know. What i DO know, however, is that if this game is going to be made, it's entirely dependent on Square Enix's schedule. It's possible that this game will be made within the next few years, but right now they're finishing up Final Fantasy XIII and vXIII. After that, they may hit up on the Kingdom Hearts series again, or they may put this game into production. It also depends on if they can get the original team who made the game for the PS1 back together. But even if they do announce the game is going to be made, it could take a year or two for them to make it since there's so much story to the game. The original game took 5 years to make, and there's no doubt that game makers have gotten alot faster, but with everything that Final Fantasy VII contains, it still could take them awhile to do it all.
Since they know that this game is wanted by many many fans, they know it'll be a hit when they put it out. Some people think that the reason Square is being so hush-hush about anything related to this game that they may be in the process of making it (and with all the FFVII games that have come out in the last few years like Dirge of Cerberus, Before Crisis, and Crisis Core, not to mention the CGI movie Advent Children, and the opening cenimatic Tech Demo for the PS3 it's not rediculous to think that this game is being made for the PS3) but saving it until they absolutley need it because the PS3 isn't doing as well as they'd hoped when they put it out. So, Final Fantasy VII is supposedly going to save the PS3.

This boxart is visibly a hoax, yes (a very well made one, but a hoax nonetheless). All of the pictures used on it are from the movie Advent Children and/or its' advertisement renders. Also, the name of the person who made it is on the image itself.
About the idea of the game, I think that a Final Fantasy VII remake would be kind of a wild shot. At the very least, it would be very good for Sony, since a game like this would probably help increase the poor sales the PS3 is seeing right now (I'm sure there are loads of people out there who would buy the ps3 solely for this game).

I don't want to break some dreams, but : this is never going to happen. At least, not on PS3. (maybe they could do a direct port to the PSP, or DS, though) The reason is : it would cost them way too much. They said they would need a team of 300 people and 5 years to make a full game with the graphics of the FF7 E3 presentation they made in 2006. It's already a miracle that FF13 remain exclusive to the PS3, considering the bad sales of the PS3.

Well, like i said in my last post, If Square Enix is going to ever make this game(which doesn't seem that farfetched of an idea to me, considering how much they've been milking that game the last few years) it depends entirely on their schedule. Right now, they're working on the new FF game, FF XIII and vXIII. They may either make another Kingdom Hearts game, or start on this one. Had to be an April Fool's joke but i saw a website just a little while ago saying the game was confirmed. But, either way, there's no doubt they'll end up making this game sooner or later. Alot of people think that they may already be making it due to the ending of Crisis Core. It shows the same opening scene from the original game and the tech promo then shows after it 'To Be Continued In FINAL FANTASY VII'This is a quote about it: Quote: Upon close inspection, you can notice that the same details found in the PS3 tech-demo aren't the same as what can be seen in the Crisis Core video. So the chance of this being a hoax is fairly slim, albeit still possible. I went out and got the game the day it came out so i've already beaten the game and seen this. I may just be seeing what i want to see, but you can look it up yourself and see what you find. Honestly, the game was there best selling game. And now, since the game can no longer be bought anywhere and stores no longer sell PS1 games, it seems like a remake is kinda needed. What with all the fans that game brought them.

It's possible there's one in development but there hasn't been enough evidence of the game yet for me to confirm a release. There's been a lot of speculation over the existence of the remake and I expect Square Enix to make a statement soon. Final Fantasy seven was arguably the biggest game of the 90's but despite all the hype and acclaim the series has gained I'm not interested in any future Final Fantasy games, the twelve incredibly linear and over hyped ones I've already played are enough for me.

cant afford PS3, it also looks a bit fake that box, could just be pics from the movie Advent Children? (if thats the name, cant remember.) Sadly I never played the game but I really want to now as I saw the film and just wanna know the storyline more, I'm not bothered by outdated graphics, so long as the story is good then I'm happy... Plus they forgot to put a picture of RedXIII on the box cover there
