Hello all I just bought a book called 'Wolf Totem' it's writted by a chinese author called Jiang Rong. This book was a million seller in China alone and because of it has become recognised in other parts of the world from USA to Europe and been translated into many different languages. I havent read it yet but when I'm done with a series of books I'm reading now I'll post up my review on this. If anyone else has read it feel free to say what you thought on the book but no spoiler whatsoever, not even mention of character names or anything like that!
Below is basically a small extract from the inside blurb about the book roughly in the same words:
The book is set in the 1960's in the inner Mongolian grasslans and the book follows a wondering band of nomads. A man from Beijing called Chen Zhen volunteers to live in a remote nomadic settlement on the boarder of inner Mongolia and outer Mongolia. 'There he discovers about the struggle and relationship between man and wolf for the fight to survive. Chen learns about the rich spiritual relationship which exists between these adversaries and what they might learn from each other.'
The blurb on the back of the book says:
"A passionate argument about the complex interrelationship between nomads and settlers, animals and human beings, nature and culture. The slowly developing narrative is rendered in vivid detail and has a powerful cumulative effect. A book like no other"
Personally I think this book sounds great and although I haven't read it yet I strongly suggest looking into buying it as it seems like a great piece of work
