Did you guys know...Steele is Balto!?? [/color]:?

I found this out by looking around on some pictures of the real Balto and pictures of Steele from the movie and seeing how much they look alike. the real Balto is black and white, big and strong, AND the leader of a sled team.

Um TLK, First of all. this SHOULD be in the Real Balto section. Not in Lion King 1. And, I don't think its possible Steele is Balto but you sota have a point. They could have gotten Steele's design from the real Balto. I doubt a cartoon character would be a real dog...

i know i know...it was GOING to be in the balto section but it messed up. don't get all mad please

Steele is fictional, Balto (the serum run dog) is not.

Real Balto had jet black and white markings (from what I've seen) uncommon but not unheard of in huskies of the time.
Steele represents more what a modern day husky-type dog would look like.

To think a fictional villian would be based off a real life hero, or off any other of the heros of the serum run... o_o.

This is a very good topic, TLK, but actually, Balto, isn't what it seems.

Balto, in real life wasn't the biggest sled dog around. He was actually sort of small, but muscular.
Balto isn't black. In the pictures you've seen, is really black and white. He was orange/red like a fox.

For example- Black and white at top - Orange/red at bottom:

Okay, then. But in my thoughts, he was orange/red because he was a siberian husky.

The only similarity I see is that they're both black and white. Real Balto wasn't that big and I doubt the producers would base the Steele character on the real Balto and besides, Steele was originally going to be a more greyish-blue colour.

The Real Balto was indeed all black and white not reddish coloured, his pelt turned reddish-brown due to bad light exposure where his taxidermied skin was kept.

Hey guess what! Not all Siberian Huskies are red/orange. The most common color is grey/black with white. Trust me, I'd know. ;] I had a Siberian Husky, and she was not red at all, she was grey and white. And there are many Siberians with the same color as Balto, same markings too. So yeah, don't go by color, a Siberian Husky's color varies.

No, Balto's fur was not oragne. After his death in, 1933, he was exposed to bright light. The museum realizing that, it damaged his fur, He is now, in dimmer lighting.
