Introduction: For years the MacKenzie Mountain ranges in Yukon, Canada were overlooked by traveling wolves; the landscape was so treacherous it offered nothing more than a quick death to any animal that did venture to climb its jagged, towering slopes. Running through and around these fortress mountains were wide, rushing rapids that barricaded all possible entrances. No one knew what lay beyond.. Until now.
The cause of the landslide remains a mystery, but it was on that fateful day that the unexplored lands suddenly became unobstructed, as many of the boulders and rocks tumbled into the rapids, slowing the once-impassable current. Time passed, as it is often inclined to do, and eventually, that small section of the raging rapids underwent a transformation. Where there used to be a rushing river, there now was a small lake. The calm waters formed a narrow corridor into the MacKenzie Basin, presenting, for the first time, the opportunity for any animal to satiate its curiosity as to what lay within the surrounding mountain ranges. It wasn't long before wolves of neighboring areas discovered that beyond those insurmountable peaks all the while, there had been a stretch of beautiful and lush valleys -- a piece of paradise.
The inviting, uninhabited basin is a siren's call to those aspiring to claim a territory as their own and start a pack. What will unfold within these mountainous walls, however, will be the work of fate, as the wolves bring with them new life, and visions of happiness and treachery alike.
