I've already made a post similar to this in the books section asking about the book but here I'm talking on the animated series.

I hadn't seen The Animals of Farthing Wood since I was 7 or 8 and now I've suddenly watched the whole first series again on Youtube and the videos are on their way from Amazon :)
I used to own the videos when I was very young (six or so) but sadly no longer and now after watching the whole first series again it feels great to have stepped back into my childhood and re-live so many moments that I'd forgotten in the series, and others that I could just about remember.

So this is just a topic to discuss on the animated series basically, I never saw the second series but I will soon hopefully and just wanted to know other people's opinions on the whole series.

My favourite character has to be Fox, as he is a great leader and always puts the other animals before himself, he goes through a lot of trials and disconcerning comments from the other animals but always comes through. I also think Weasel is a great and funny character (especially when she gets drunk) but my least favourite character is the vole (for obvious reasons.)

Anyone else seen this series? If not I strongly suggest watching it and for those who have seen it before either recently or a long time ago. What are your views on The Animals of Farthing Wood? :D

You can't buy the DVD and the VHS is out of print as far as I know, however, my brother tracked someone down in England who had all 3 seasons on original video cassette and they burnt it to DVD for him so we have all three seasons.

Season 1 and 2 are great; the animation is smooth, the characters are quite well drawn and the voice acting is superb. Unfortunately the production company was switched by the BBC after season 2 and a new production company employed. The animation and characters look vastly different and the voice acting not as impressive.

There was going to be another season for the book 'The Siege of White Deer Park', however it was abandoned as it was considered to be too violent for a children's cartoon.

I'd give it a solid 9/10, excluding the 3 season.

Good stuff, yeah I've seen pictures of the last series and I was a bit unresolved on how it looked as the drawings and characters look vastly different, they don't seem to have that same feel to them that the first series did.

Also Ninjamasterkenney, I reccomend getting the book and having a read through that to see if you'd like it or not but if your not a reader then check out Youtube, somone called Thelashers has uploaded them all from first season to last and has them split up in episodes and parts. Sadly there are no DVD's but there are plenty of the videos for sale on Amazon.co.uk for a cheap price so I reccomend getting them there, I'm gunna see if I can burn the videos to DVD when they arrive so I can watch em on my computer hopefully.

I'm a bit gutted to hear them abandoning a 4th season, if it's true like the 1st season then it would be worth it. The first season had it's share of violence but as a kid I just shrugged it off, as the series made it easy to accept it all and not be troubled in the slightest. Oh well, if you say the 3rd season wasn't that great then it could be a blessing if the 4th season turned out like that.
