You know the general outline of the game, right? Or should I go into that detail?

First the series as a whole is:

Kingdom Hearts -- Play Station 2

Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix -- Play Station 2 -- A re-release of Kingdom Hearts for Japan, containing the extra content the the USA and European versions had that weren't in the Japanese release, plus, added brand new content that hint to new developments in the sequel.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories -- Game Boy Advance -- A game that takes place between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. It uses a brand new card based, real time battle system making it unique and very fun.

Kingdom Hearts II -- Play Station 2

Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix -- Play Station 2 -- A re-release of Kingdom Hearts 2 for Japan. Unlike the last Final Mix, this one contains new content that only Japan gets. Also, thanks to the success of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, the game has been remade (with 3D characters, environments, and cut sense while retaining the popular card based system) and included with Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days -- Nintendo DS -- release date TBA -- a game that takes place during the end on Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. The game follows Roxas, Sora's Nobody (other half, or missing half), and his adventure with Organization XIII.

Kingdom Hearts: Coded -- Cell Phone -- release date TBA -- A side story in the series. Jiminy Cricket finds a corruption in his journal. He generates a fake Sora to live through the events he has recorded in his journal and stop the corruption.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep -- Play Station Portable -- release date TBA -- a game that takes place well before Sora begins his adventure. The game follows Terra, Ven, and Aqua, three Key Blade knights.

The Organization is actually called Organization XIII. They are a group of powerful Nobodies who search to become whole again. Nobodies are what's left of a person when the Heartless takes their heart. Nobodies, along with the Heartless, are common enemies that Sora and company must fight. Only the strongest Nobodies keep their normal for, like the Organization XIII, all the others take on different shapes and type and fall under the command of the Organization XIII.

The only movie inspired worlds that are in Kingdom Hearts are only from Disney movies. There are other worlds but those world are brand new for the Kingdom Hearts series.


Not really. Well sure, you can, but you'll end up missing some big events in the story. That said, the main string of games is just Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. However, from my experience, you might want to add Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories to that string because of the way Kingdom Hearts 2 starts.


They are after Sora for many reasons, but they are spoilers. If you don't mind, I'll tell you.

Close, but most of that is what the Heartless are doing, not Organization XIII. Organization XIII doesn't come into play until Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II.

First, the Heartless are taking over many different worlds, taking everyone's hearts, and, eventually, the world as a whole, increasing their numbers drastically. Doing this also opens up paths that the Heartless can use to reach more worlds.

Each world has something called a Keyhole that closes all connection to that world, protecting it from the Heartless. For the most part, the Heartless have found a way to unlock the Keyholes to the worlds, but there is one they cannot open, the one that leads to Kingdom Hearts, a moon in the shape of a heart that is the source of all hearts.
They have a method to open Kingdom Hearts' Keyhole, and that's to seek out the seven Princesses of Heart and use their pure hearts to open the Keyhole. The seven Princesses of Heart are Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora (from Sleeping Beauty), Belle, Alice, Jasmine, and Kairi, one of Sora's friends.

The Heartless are after Sora's hearts because he has the Keyblade, the one weapon that is said could hurt the Heartless.

In the first game there is a character call Ansem, and he wants to study and understand the Heartless. Doing his research however has put him in command of the Heartless, and he believes that "every heart had darkness, every heart begins in darkness, and also end." He orders the Heartless to continue the capture of worlds.

That's pretty much what the Heartless are doing in the first game. I'll get back to you with Organization XIII because they are a bit more confusing.

Okay, I have the general motives of Organization XIII:

When a being is attacked and defeated by a Heartless, their heart is taken to become a Heartless. The empty shell that is left behind in turn becomes a Nobody, which, like the Heartless, come in many shapes.

At the helm of the Nobodies sit Organization XIII. These thirteen powerful Nobodies retain their form when they had hearts. Each one have specific control over one type of lesser Nobodies that fit their fighting style. Their names are the mixed up letters of their original name with an added 'X.'
Their names are: Xemnas, Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Lexaeus, Zexion, Saïx, Axel, Demyx, Luxord, Marluxia, Larxene, and Roxas.
(There is actually a fourteenth nameless, female Organization XIII member. Details on her are near to none because the game she appears in, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, is still in development.)

In Kingdom Hearts II, Organization XIII seek to restore their missing hearts. The Organization don't have the ability to capture new hearts like the Heartless. Instead, they plan on using Kingdom Hearts itself to restore their hearts.
Though Sora is an adversary to Organization XIII, they encourage him in his fight against the Heartless because when a Heartless is defeated the freed heart returns to Kingdom Hearts.

I've got Kingdom Hearts II but i'm not that far into it. I only just got to Atlantica the other day and havn't had much time to play it since then. I never played the first game so there's alot of things i'm not understanding like, what was the point of having Roxas in the game? As soon as Sora showed up, he vanished. One of my friends told me that Roxas was Sora's Nobody, but then that would mean Sora is a Heartless now, which doesn't make sense.

That's true, Roxas is Sora's Nobody, and Sora was indeed turned into a Heartless.
See, Nobodies are only created when a heart falls at the hand of the Heartless, they can still exist even when their originals have been restored, as the case with Sora.

Don't worry. Roxas still has a role to play at your point in the game.

I can't wait for the three new games Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days Birth By sleep and Coded that will come out in PSP in America. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days is coming to Japan this Feburary and Bith By sleep this Spring in Japan
