Alright, this is just something I was wondering. We all know Balto became a hero for the sirum run and in real life the real Balto's team also were celebrated so one could assume that Nikki, Kaltag, Star, and the others on the sled team were also somewhat praised for helpping. What I'm wondering is this, had Steele not tried to kill Balto and sabtage the sled team from returning to Nome and instead stepped down and let Balto lead them home, would he of also gotten some degree of fame for it? The irony of this would be, Steele's own actions prevented him what he'd wanted, fame. Ironic?

Steel did sorta get some fame... as the bad guy. Not at all what he wanted. But it is ironic.

I see your point to be had but I think there would be little irony in the situation. This is Steele we're talking about, he doesn't want just a bit of fame but ALL the fame and he wouldn't be as happy with only being partially recognised especially if it was Balto who recieved the most prestigious attention and not him. To Steele it's either all fame to him or nothing, so he wouldn't have appreciated (in his case) the less than expected recognition given to him for just being part of the run.

I see your point as well but I was refering to the fact just that Steele was wanting fame and walked away with none instead of the slight bit he would of gotten had he stood down, not just from Steele's point of view though your point is very good.

Steele's just selfish. He wanted all the glory for himself. Which is why he got no praise, and doesn't deserve it either.

It is ironic that his own actions prevented him from getting fame. Oh well, thats what you get for being a bad person...or dog. Haha.

Great points guys! I knew this discussion would be one you enjoyed. NinjaMasterKenny, that's a very good point, Steele's owner lust for glory prevented him from getting the little bit, though still likely a lot more than he already had, he would of gotten had he done the right thing.

Like Jenna said, Steele is a glory-hound, so I don't think there is much irony in it, he brought his result on himself.

Very good point, to attempt a counter point, I was just refering to the fact he got no fame from his own actions, so BaltoRacing, that does make it ironic. Alright, another irony I'd like to point out. Steele made fun of Balto for being a half-breed, though he was like refering to him beign a wolfdog, maybe he just meant he wasn't purebred. If this was the case, some people say Steele is a malmute, no argueing, lets just say for discussion that is true. Had Steele sucessfully made Jenna his mate, their pups would also be crossbreeds, and thus half-breeds. Is this ironic? Also, if anyone has any other ironies from the film they'd like to discuss, please bring them up, I'd love to discuss them

I think he means half breed as in he's half wolf and half dog and therefore of another subspecies. To put it one way, you would call a collie a dog and a labrador a dog, although they are different breeds they are still in the same category of being dogs. But with a wolf you have grey wolves or say red wolves these would still both be wolves but different breeds of wolves. Therefore I think when Steele says "halfbreed" he's refferring to the fact that Balto is only half dog and half wolf and not fully one or the other.

Very ironic... but he did get a little bit of fame afte he came back from the blizzard.

for Steele, it's either ALL or NOTHING. he don't want to share, espacially with Balto.

Balto made him look slow in the beginning(by running faster than him), and he's angry.
so, he won't let Balto "take" the fame that he thought was rightfully his.

so he fight for it.
