I can't count the times I've seen
Titanic any more over the past 11 or so odd years. First time I saw it, actually, was in 1997, when it was shown in theaters. I also remember watching the Oscars that year, it was pretty cool to see my favorite movie to grab 11 Oscars.
I personally liked it - James Cameron gave us a peek of what life was like in 1912, about how the classes were divided then and now. As well as assigned roles and behaviors for everyone according to their class. I mean, I doubt many of us here could afford 1st or 2nd class accommodations on that ship - or perhaps even one of the replicas (if any are still in the picture) for the 100 year anniversary of the April 14th sinking, which is coming in four years.
Though I would say some of the plot points in the picture are not appropriate for this forum or site, including two elements of Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater later Dawson and later Calvert's relationship - being the car and the drawing.
My favorite part of the film was the Irish Party in Third Class, followed by the Propeller Guy scene towards the end of the film. Though on the big screen, I have to say that the ship actually breaking apart and sinking was the best. I'll admit that I didn't cry the first time around, though I came close to it when there were the scenes of people reacting to the sinking I was choked up to see the mother reading to her two children, for they had no hope to escape the ship at all. I mean, it contains matter that has historical relevance to almost everyone who has some European ancestry in the United States and Canada, because if you think about it, the biggest waves of immigration from Europe to North America was between the late 1800s and the 1910s. This gives us an idea of how they came over here to establish new lives, for many came over on ships like the Olympic (the Titanic's older sister ship - which survived until the 1930s and was scrapped, the younger was originally named the Gigantic, but was re-named Britannic after Titanic's sinking, and was sunk in the Mediterranean in WWI) and the Lusitania (which was sunk off the coast of Ireland prior to US involvement in WWI, whose sister was the Mauretania which was scrapped in the 1930s)
Since '97, I've managed quite a bit
Titanic stuff, more stuff for that movie than I do for
Balto or
The Lion King: The Original Movie Soundtrack, the soundtrack's sequel, Full-Screen VHS edition, movie poster, a movie plaque with a little piece film in it (from the actual movie like a lithograph for an animated movie), the pre-2007 widescreen DVD release, and the 2007 10th anniversary widescreen DVD. Besides that, I've seen parts of the RMS Titanic (including the part of the hull they recovered in the late 1990s), and met Gaelic Storm - who was the band who was playing in the Irish Party in Third Class, at least one of whom was in the film.

Not to mention I did a fairly embarrassing speech on it in the 8th grade >>
