Recently, I've rewatched WQ (mainly for my unofficial transcript project) and I noticed one line within the last 20 minutes of the film during Balto and Aleu's introduction to Nava's pack.
Did anyone else hear this conversation:
Balto: You knew we were coming? Nava: Of course; it was I who sent for you.
. . . . XD
And then, a minute later when Nava explains what he meant to the entire pack, he says this:
Nava: Aniu, the white wolf, has come to me in dream-visions, and she has told us what we must do. She said we must move on, and that we must be led by "the one who is wolf, but does not know."
I'm sorry, but if Aniu sent him the visions telling him about Balto and Aleu's arrival, why did he say his previous comment of him sending them to his pack?
In other words, not only is the Raven Aniu, but I think Nava could also be another form of Aniu's. Why else is he so wise yet he allowed Aleu to understand what was eventually her destiny?
Plus, this gives a better explanation to the whole "becoming one with the tree" thing that everyone gripes about . . . only a spirit (or one who is closely in tune with the said spirits) could possibly do something so . . . unnatural for normal wolves. Besides, Niju mentioned that Nava had done little tricks and things (anyone remember the scene with the orca and Nava's eyes?), so this only adds more proof. Besides, he also stays behind - probably not just because his body's age and the whole "he wouldn't make the swim" excuse . . . it could be because it allowed Aleu to make a stand, stepping forward to claim the fate that was hers.
So, what do you think? Does this make sense or am I the only one that sees this?

That very well could be true, why else would Nava know how to become one with the tree, hmmmm? I certainly remember the conversation between Nava, and Balto

I personally think it was just something they overlooked in the dialogue, but that would definitely make more sense if it WAS intended.

True, true . . . honestly, I don't think the writers cared about this idea, but it's worth thinkingt about, right? Also, going back to the whole "merge w/ the tree" thing, he did say something about it being "something that cannot be taught - one just knows." DING. If that doesn't make sense with my theory, then what does? - Juuchan17

I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Nava is more of a shamanic kind of character. In some cultures, the shaman is believed to have all sorts of magical and spiritual powers related to nature itself, and usually because of that, the shaman is usually the most influential and powerful person in a tribe. His power of communion with nature, although it doesn't look like something you'd expect a mere mortal to be able to perform, would be explained if the creators decided to give him some powers that would explain his position as both a shaman and leader of the pack.
On a side note, although it was not exact explicit, one would assume that Nava has been the leader of that pack for a long time. What reasons would Aniu have to assume the form of Nava and lead those wolves for so long? Although this can be explained with some effort, I think it would be just a bit of a stretch. I believe that Nava is just the Shaman leader of the tribe, who received the warning from Aniu in his dreams, and has decided to heed to their advice. He must have used his powers to communicate with the spirits of nature, so that they would lead Balto and Alue to him and his pack.

i dont know nava always seemed to be connected to Aniu in some way, when he spoke his voice was in a loving, calming tone. Maybe their related somewhere down the line (i only say this because aniu, nava, alue, and balto all seem to have some sort of powers) and as such when the time came the two may have spoken via dreams and maybe nava suggested aniu send for her granddaughter. it would explain the line

Aniu gave those powers to them, even when they don't know it yet (just like with Aleu's vision of the caribou crossing the water). Now with the whole Nava being Aniu thing, I think Fox Deimos may have a point - it does seem impossible for Aniu (even since she is this Great Spirit) to remain as a male wolf while also being connected to these other forms (Muru, the hunter (?), the raven, etc) all at the same time. Perhaps Nava is like a small part of Aniu, I don't know . . . that could be a part of it. - Juuchan17

I think Nava and Aniu were planning everything together to cause Balto to have those dreams, and to lead him and Aleu to their destination. Everything supernatural that happened while journeying there, however, was more than likely the workings of Aniu. Nava was probably gifted by Aniu with innate powers because he's so wise and obviously makes a great Alpha. Also, if you remember the end, Nava walks off just before Aniu appears again. Probably the most accurate thing to say, is that Aniu and Nava are probably really close in a spirit-bonded kind of way.

It would make since because they all dream the dreams seem to relate to the same thing. The powers may not have been perposefull more like a gene thing no one knows how aniu got her powers to begin with. It may just be that their dreams were activated when a young wolf/dog (alue) needed to find her true place, an old hybrid(balto) needing to let her and a once strong alpha getting along in years. Perhaps Aniu saw this happening and knew how to set it all up so that her heir could lead a clan that most likly was once lead by Aniu herself. She knew that if Niju influenced the clan enough they may have let him rule and his short reign he would have caused them death. This way everyone's happy. and umm I dont think Aniu was the hunter he was just there so that balto would have to tell alue of her heritage
