UPDATED: Now there's a banner to the contest site!(
Mods: I'm not sure whether this belongs in the Art Contests or here, but since this is focused solely on WQ, I put it here . . . also because others could find it easily. Sorry?)
I know I've heard a lot of people gripe and groan about the inconsistancies of the American WQ cover (and how the European version and even the WQ Director's version is so much better) . . . mainly because there's a lot of things wrong:
-
Aleu's size is nowhere close to being right from the movie. (She looks cute, but I don't think the designer of the cover thought about size consistancy. Balto seems to tower over her with his large size . . . . Maybe it's a sign of his overprotectiveness throughout the film?)-
You thought the film forgot about Balto's yellow eyes? On the cover, neither Balto or Aleu have yellow eyes! (Which is horrible beyond all reason)-
Why are Muk and Luk even on the cover? They don't even play that big of a role! (I understand why Boris is there - he was the one that seemed to understand more about what was going on than he thought . . .)-
In the far background, I can understand why we can see Niju, but why is Sumac there? (except for the fact that he looks all buff and all, which doesn't match his on-screen persona at all) And is the farthest back wolf supposed to be Nuk? (it's hard to tell . . . and why isn't Nava or Aniu on the cover?)-
More importantly, where is the RAVEN? (The first character you even see in the film . . . and it's not even acknowledged on the cover at all! For shame! Without the raven, the story would get nowhere . . .)So . . . due to seeing these mistakes (which I'm usually not so nit-picky about), I decided to let you, the fans, make what you think would be a better cover for Wolf Quest!
Click this for more information, rules, and how to enter!I'm currently working on a sample piece, but (thankfully) I will not be completing . . . you guys will! After the deadline, I'll let you guys vote on which piece you think would be a better cover!
But since this is in the WQ section of the board, let's discuss:
What would you like to see on a WQ cover? (No, nothing negative please. I know there are some WQ-haters out there, but this is about the positive, okay?) Yes, you can use these ideas to design and draw your own entry in the contest! Talk about it and maybe you'll get ideas!
Here's my opinions:
The cover should give a good rep for the film. Interesting characters, an idea of the setting - it should draw one into the plot of the tale of a Father and Daughter discovering more about the wolf within them.
Simply put, that's it. What do you think?
