Hello fellow Balto Source members :D

Some of you may know me, but for those of you who don't I'm Fire_Paw. I have been a user on Balto source for roughly a year now.

I created this topic for those of you who are new to the internet. Here you will find Tips, FAQs and do's and don'ts to ensure that you are safe on the internet;]

~~~
Our internet is used by millions of people each day. It is a great way to keep in touch with friends and find information. However, remember that some people on the internet are not as friendly as they seem.
Safety tips on the internet:
The most important safety tip of all on the internet is:- [/b NEVER give out information such as your real name, your address, your telephone number or school, ESPECILLY in public!!!
[b]Don't believe everything:
Some people on the website will pass themselves off as other people. Remember, all we can see is a screen, you can never tell who is on the other line! Someone you could believe is a 12 year old girl, could actually be a 49 year old man e.t.c Photo's can't always prove everything.
Never visit anywhere you are unsure of: If someone asks you to join a website that you feel uncomfortable with, don't do it. No one can force you to.
Never dowload anything you are unsure of: Some dowloads contain viruses. Though I have never had this happen to me, my dad has. He ended up having to lose every file on his computer -.-
Tell!: If someone is sending you messages that are worrying you, or you feel uncomfortable with someone tell a parent or contact a moderator at once!
Remember, even the most un-likely piece of information can be fitted together like a jigsour for someone to know exactly who you are and where you live! So careful what you say!
Remember:
You wouldn't stand in the middle of the street and hand out everything about yourself to strangers!
So don't do it here!
Do's and don’ts:
Do:
Read rules and check what you are joining.
Get permission from a parent or guardian if you are below 10.
Don't:
Use your real name as a username.
Ever give out your account password.
Give out personal information.
Thank you for reading, and if you are a newer member, welcome to Balto Source ^^
When settling bank disputes, do you think it's safe to give them my first pet's name?
Of course its safe to give out your pet's name. Theres millions of pets witht he same name. And plus, like someone would go looking around the whole world just to find a certain pet to kill.. right. Its safe. I do it all the time.
No, this is not helpful. This is just going to create more paranoia. How are you going to make friends if they don't know your name?
It does have some points, but all are ones that one should know before they even touch the icon for their internet browser.
