I have a feeling I`m going to be highly disagreed with on this, but I think all Color Me Lineart should be paint-friendly, cause it doesn`t seem fair to those who don`t own Photoshop to make lineart that they can`t use, plus, using Photoshop on lineart can be VERY annoying in my opinion, but anyway, I think it should be a rule that all lineart is made paint-friendly.

I don't understand what you mean exactly by "paint friendly"? Is it a problem the file format? As far as I know, Paint can open most of the common images formats (JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP) And if you don't have Photoshop, you can try a free software like Photofiltre or The gimp : viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2508

I don't think we should MAKE it Paint friendly, mainly because not everyone CAN. I know I often have a headache making a lineart in Photoshop work properly in Paint. steet wrote: I don't understand what you mean exactly by "paint friendly"? Is it a problem the file format? Also, .PNG makes it not grainy but it also means no colour, it'll only colour gray. You have to re-save the lineart in .JPG but that makes it grainy.

Quote: Paint can open them but often they're grainy and hard to colour, you literally have to do it with a 1 or 2 pixel brush (or as small as it'll go) and zoomed to abut 400%. If it's "grainy", it's either due to the compression (PNG use a lossless compression, contrary to JPG), but also to the scanner : it's not THAT easy to make a drawing easy to color over. You need to play with the contrast of the picture or scan the drawing by using only black and white. I don't think it would be easy to make an automatic program to adjust the contrast to make a lineart, unfortunately. But seriously...I don't understand how people can be staying with Paint, when there are other much better programs, and even free ones. Paint compared to Photoshop is like Notepad compared to Word : you can do only the most basic stuff with it.

I use Pain and always have. Yes, it is very... //free\\, not to mention plain and simple. But, if someone works hard enough and donates enough time, they can make amazing things, almost as good as Photoshop. I have MS Pain, and always have. I started drawing with it when i was 5, and have since. I will say, I got a new mouse that I absolutely despise, and I have drawings that pretty much suck in comparison to my past ones. But my point being, Photoshop is pretty much the new Galaxy Mobile, or Iphone in comparison to Landlines or simple cells. you can pretty much do the same, just the newer ones have more uses and skills, which can make a person rather spoiled. I wished for Photoshop, used it, hate it. I went back to MS Paint.
I'm not trying to start a argument, but I agree. MS paint users shouldn't have to work twice as hard to fill in a simple line art compared to Photoshop users. Its not really fair they don't have space on their computer, or just can't make anything nearly as good. And I'm sorry if I offended anyone, or caused any sort of upset.
If this is a old topic, I apologize. Sorry! If not, oh well.

.... This topic is from 2008, why did you drag it up?
Also - linearts people make has nothing to do with AS itself, it's not the obligation of the site or staff to make people do things one way or the other. If someone wants an MSPaint version of a lineart the best you can do is ask the maker if it's possible to have a Paint-friendly version - if not (either because they don't know how or don't have time/want to) then oh well. You'll just have to take extra time cleaning it up or go find a Paint lineart.
