I now have a title for my story which i've been working very very very slowly on. "wolves in my head." Sounds kind of catchy, eh? Well anyways here's another excerpt from my story for your personal enjoyment.
“Jenna, it’s not like I’m going to miss everything.” Balto pleaded from the crumpled mattress in the shed behind Jenna’s house. He lay on his stomach looking up at Jenna who paced all around the small room in a stew of her own thoughts. Dust covered shovels, picks, screens, and gold-pans lined the walls from times long past. The sun slanted down sideways through the half-open door to the shed. Balto duly noted the sun would set in just a few hours as Jenna began again. “True you probably wouldn’t miss everything. But I think you would miss the most important part.” Jenna said. Her face held a frustration buried deep within her being. “And you know how much Kodi wants you to be here and share this moment with him.” Jenna stopped walking. “I know Kodi wants me to stay here with him – “ “- So then why do you need to go?” Jenna cut in. “I hope that this isn’t one of these adventurous romps you go on so often.” “No Jenna, it’s nothing like that.” Balto said sitting up. “I just have a feeling Rojo is telling me the truth; that he actually wants to help me with my dream.” Jenna sat down facing Balto. “So tell me why you have to go today. Why couldn’t you wait a few months and go then? It would be much nicer then and I could maybe go with you.” “I told you already,” Balto said slightly exasperated. “Rojo said that Master Wolfbane moves around quiet a bit, and that if I miss this chance I might not be able to ever see him.” Balto paused and looked deep into Jenna’s eyes. He held her in his gaze for several seconds as a cheerless look crossed his face. “Jenna, this dream is getting worse. I don’t know how much longer I can take it.” Jenna lowered her head sympathetically. “Balto,” she stepped forward and nuzzled against his neck, then sat down in front of him on the mattress and let her neck rest against his. “Balto, I understand this dream is becoming hard for you to deal with, and I can’t stop you from going. And if this Master Wolfbane can help you I want you to go talk to him. Just do me a favor before you go.” “Anything.” “Go talk to Kodi about his new family, then tell him what it is you want to do.” Balto nuzzled against Jenna’s neck, “I wouldn’t have dreamed of going without telling him.”
